I may of course be wrong, but my guess is that you are not getting many reactions, because it is difficult to react to these statements. With the best will in the world, I cannot agree with these swiping generalisations, and it just seems easier to keep quiet rather than start criticising them, or to make a big effort to find some kernel of truth in them. But thanks for sharing! I was fascinated by her comparison of America to pre-WWII Germany - and the description of men as weak and women as grotesquely aggressive. A YouTube comment said it well... >That huge, haunting, beautiful, mesmerizing voice that Joni wields like a sword, like a gun, like a feather from the wing of an angel would be enough to make her a legend. Joni Mitchell, though, isn't just a singer, she's a songwriter beyond criticism, a gorgeous hippie who grew in both stature and art into a woman of love, pain ando;? redemption, someone who felt limited in the pop world and broke free.> Simon's chronology at http://jonimitchell.com/chronology/complete.cfm puts the Joni's performance at festival on Sept 14, 1969. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IBqodL2OJ1A Jim L'Hommedieu ------------------------------ End of onlyJMDL Digest V2011 #92 ******************************** ------- Post messages to the list by clicking here: mailto:joni@smoe.org Unsubscribe by clicking here: mailto:onlyjoni-digest-request@smoe.org?body=unsubscribe
