What a wonderful opening up to many discussions of the Joni kind. Hopefully, more folks will chime in and give us their thoughts. fwiw, the first time I heard Joni, it was on the radio way back when..Court and Spark. A dear friend gave me Blue and Ladies, and the next one I think was Clouds. I skipped a bunch of Joni albums and when I picked up Night Ride Home, I felt that Joni was back. And this is a perfect demonstration of not having a clue: when I saw the image of Joni on Hejira, I thought oh no...she's gone all Jazz (time to confess my complete ignorance of jazz at that time). Geeze Louise, so I missed out on that as well as Hissing . When I joined the list in 2000, I was soon educated into giving them both a try and it was a multitude of wow moments. I love them both so very much. This list is for learning, and I'm ever grateful for that, and for the wonderful friendships within. Comments like you don't have to be gay to get Joni give me the willies...big time. Nuff said, have a wonderful day all, and I look forward to more comments. Mark Scott, tell me more..I know you want to ;-)) love, Mags in finally warming up Winnipeg :)))) - --- On Tue, 3/8/11, WirlyPearl@aol.com wrote: > From: WirlyPearl@aol.com > Subject: Loving Joni Mitchell: You Don't Have to Be Gay - PBS article > To: joni@smoe.org > Received: Tuesday, March 8, 2011, 4:20 PM > Hi Jonifriends, > > This interesting article "Loving Joni Mitchell: You Don't > Have To Be Gay" > appeared on my Facebook page today from PBS Need To Know. > I do "get" Joni (as we all do here) and have appreciated > and loved for > since 1968. > I certainly don't think being straight or gay has anything > to do with > loving her and her > music or anyone's music. Wednesday March 16th the full Mutts of the Planet band will be doing a show at The Performance Loft in Redlands, CA. Playing with the whole band has become a bit of a rarity as there are scant venues with good enough sound and a listening crowd. This promises to have both. Monday, March 21st Robin and I will be as a duo at the Coffee Gallery Backstage in Altadena CA. This is a nice stage and a good listening space, not far from Pasadena. We'd love to see the Dulsons, Lesli and Kakki and any other L.A area folks at either or both shows. Or if you have friends who are into Joni and in southern California but not on the list please tell them about it. More details can be found on Robin's calendar page http://www.robinadler.com/calendar.html. Thanks all.
