The weather has been a challenge from the West Coast to the East but everyone seemed to be of great cheer regardless. I remember buying Barbra's Stoney End record a million years ago solely for the I Don't Know Where I Stand cut. Still have the vinyl. It was shocking to hear about Teena Marie. She was way too young to leave us. I never knew she was a local Santa Monica girl until I read the obit. Years ago I received some gratis tapes of her music when I worked with one of her record companies. I need to go find and play them. Interesting (and troubling) backstory on her, Paz. And Bob, your NP Smithereens Room Without a View - YES!! They are still in my top 5 favorite bands ever and definitely my number one band out of New Jersey (Sorry, Boss;-) They were still appearing live here and there in clubs a few years ago. They are incredible live!! All the very best of everything to you all in the New Year! I haven't been as active on the list as I used to but I still read everything with great interest, nodding sometimes and shaking my head at other times. It's great to be part of this community! Marion, with a broken foot thanks to winter wonderland... ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 29 Dec 2010 11:05:48 -0600 From: Michael Paz Subject: Re: Happy Holidays Hi Kakki Hope you are having a good holiday. I had an invite from the greammys to go to the Music Cares fundraiser featuring Barbara and host of others including Herbie. I thought of you but alas it is too rich for my blood. $1,250 for the nose bleed seating with dinner and drinks (what a deal!). Was thinking about Namm but don't know for sure. Happy New Year!
