Before I submit this to the archive, I thought I'd show you it first, see how it turns out. RIVER (my arrangement) Arranged and transcribed by Sam Stone - ---TUNING: A#FA#GA#D (A#75934) (low to high)--- This arrangement is was inspired by Martin Giles' brilliant guitar arrangement for "For Free," in which he took a piano song and arranged it for alternate-tuned guitar. I wanted to do the same thing for "River." This is a very slow, jazzy arrangement which starts out on a simple riff (a la Herbie Hancock's version), and goes on slowly from there. Here are the chord shapes (note: 10th fret = A & etc., *= 12th-fret harm., <->=hammer on & off) Intro: Open-12 (hammer on to 15 on highest string) D -*- -c hFpC- A# -*- -c- G -*- -c- -0- onto H, slide down to 12> A# -0- -0- then, -c- -c- -*- -c- -c- -*- -c- -e- -*- -e- -e- -*- -e- -c- -0- -c- -c- -0- Verse: 0 1 0 0 0 0 3 3 3 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 A# A#sus A# It's coming on Christmas A#sus A# They're cutting down trees A#sus A# They're putting up reindeer 1 h3 3h5 p3 p0 0 0 0 3 3 3 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 A#sus--------------------------> And singing songs of joy and peace 0 0 0 0 h0 0 h2p 2 2 2 2 0 0 C7s2-----------------> Oh I wish I had a river 0 2 2 2 0 x F(6) I could skate away on A#sus A# But it don't snow here A#sus A# It stays pretty green A#sus A I'm going to make a lot of money A#sus-----w/hammers--------------- Then I'm going to quit this crazy scene C7sus2 I wish I had a river F(6) I could skate away on (0) (0) 0 0 3 5 5 7 5 7 0 0 D# F(add9) I wish I had a river so long 0 7 8 0 7 7 0 7 7 9 7 7 9 7 7 0 7 7 Gm F6 Fsus4add13 I would teach my feet to fly D# A#sus Oh I wish I had a river * * * * * * A#6* (let ring) I could skate away on 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 9 7 5 9 7 5 0 0 0 Gm A#6/C D#7M I made my baby cry The rest of the song is just repeats. So, that's my little arrangement. Try it out, tell me what you think of it. ------------------------------ End of onlyJMDL Digest V2010 #348 ********************************* ------- Post messages to the list by clicking here: mailto:joni@smoe.org Unsubscribe by clicking here: mailto:onlyjoni-digest-request@smoe.org?body=unsubscribe
