It gives a nice, brief explanation of the various methods the language uses to communicate and also gives a complete 'translation' of what the signer is actually conveying. It's more the ideas of the lyrics than a literal word for word translation. The subject line is 'Both Sides Now, Sign Language'. Fascinating and engaging post. Other people have thanked Laura Stanley but I will add myself to that list. Thank you, Laura! It seemed that the camera in the video the article linked to was positioned more directly in front of Clay and Mrs. Leisy. You could see her facial expressions much better than the other video that was linked in the original post which seemed to be shot more from the side of the two performers Am I imagining this? I guess I should go back and look at the first video. Ok, I checked out both. If you haven't seen the video that is linked to the article, you should watch it. It is shot from a different camera and you can see the signer's facial expressions and movements much better. On a side note, knit-picker that I am, I was a bit annoyed that the article stated 'The Canadian musician, Joni Mitchell, wrote Both Sides Now. Mitchell recorded her debut album in 1968 and it contained many of her most beautiful and popular songs, including Chelsea Morning, Both Sides Now, and Woodstock. ' I admit, that when I first started collecting Joni's albums, for awhile I thought that 'Clouds' was her debut album. I hadn't seen 'Song to a Seagull' in any place that sold records. But don't people do research before publishing things anymore? None of the songs referenced was on Joni's 'debut album'. In fact, the 3 songs mentioned are on 2 of Joni's subsequent releases, 'Woodstock' not appearing until 'Ladies of the Canyon'.
