When I saw it, I thought ,'Oh it's Janis Ian' betting in my mind it would be her singing At 17. But 'twas the wonderful Dory Previn whom I had never, ever seen sing. In the 1970s, I thought she was wonderful. had several of her albums and also her book 'Bog Trotter' which was fascinating. It was great to see her singing. She seemed much stronger than I had imagined, having just heard the albums. Loved her books and music. She was bold, honest, and raw at a time many other women writers were only breaking the surface of timidity. I would like to say: "Surely the person at the BBC would not make that mistake!" (After all, the name is mentioned in the programme itself) but after seeing the complete hash they made of the information, I am prepared to believe this explanation too! Like you, it was the first time for me to see Dory sing live, and I had the same reaction, that she came across more powerful than I had imagined. It was a real joy! I am looking forward to the last (?) part this upcoming Friday.
