I can now hear 'The Arragement' in my head, not only Joni singing it, but also our own Jenny Goodspeed. Whilst I am posting, it's nice to know so many of us still coming out and valuing JMDL. So much written here I feel is well worth reading Anita x On 30 August 2010 00:01, Mark wrote: > Hi Anita. > > Since Patti has been relatively silent of late (Patti? Now I am trying to remember which Joni song that's a quote from. Where are you, Patti, when I need you? Hi Anita! "Keeping the wheels turning And the wife she keeps the keys She is so pleased to be A part of the arrangement" Hey Patti... yeah, where are you? Talk to me talk to me: We could talk about Martha We could talk about landscapes I'm not above gossip But I'll sit on a secret where honor is at stake! Or we could talk about power About Jesus and Hitler and Howard Hughes Or Charlie Chaplin's movies Or Bergman's nordic blues Please just talk to me Any old theme you choose Just come and talk to me Sooooo how about the WM3? Johnny Depp was at a rally for them recently. Have a look see if you don't know who they are. Wonder if Joni knows about them? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JS1yzjNjJGs&feature=channel Love, Laura ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 30 Aug 2010 18:14:54 +0100 From: Anita G Subject: Re: Still reading after all these years Brilliantly put,Laura, on many levels > > We could talk about Martha > We could talk about landscapes > I'm not above gossip > But I'll sit on a secret where honor is at stake! > Or we could talk about power > About Jesus and Hitler and Howard Hughes > Or Charlie Chaplin's movies > Or Bergman's nordic blues > Please just talk to me > Any old theme you choose > Just come and talk to me It took me on to: "Anyone will tell you Just how hard it is to make and keep a friend Maybe they'll short sell you Or maybe it's you Judas in the end When you just can no longer pretend That you're getting what you need Or you're giving out anything for them to grow and feed on." It makes me think about the ups and downs we have had at JMDL, the discussion about Facebook and the gravitation of folk away from here and into other things. The last lines also led to thoughts of what it must be like to be an artist giving out stuff for folk to grow and feed on. What a pressure. I am also reminded how much I disliked and didn't understand DJRD at all - yet now, I am amazed. And just where is Patti? Hope all is well and thanks for everyone who could remember the phrase 'Keeping The Wheel Turning' was from 'The Arrangement.' Hope all is well and thanks for everyone who could remember the phrase 'Keeping The Wheel Turning' was from 'The Arrangement.' Happy Monday Anita Hi Anita, What amazes me about this list and about Joni in general is the depth of friendships I now have because of both. The expression in Joni's music and life touches so many areas of my own life that I might not otherwise notice and be able to share with others. Finding other people who play Joni's music has been incredible. Enlightening is the best way to describe it all. Friends here who "get" Joni are very special people. I have grown as a person and as a guitar player through this list. As for the pressure of being an artist, I am of the opinion that For the Roses is no doubt her real experience, but expression seems very natural to her even in interviews. DJRD!!!! Wow!!! When I think of that album, I immediately think of Cotton Avenue and taking a walk. I feel like my walk is part of a movie when I listen and walk. One question on my mind is in Otis and Marlena, what are "cupid colonnades?" Patti and I are great friends on FB. While I will always be on this list and treasure it, I love love love getting to know Joni people on FB. For one thing, it's easy to put names with faces that way. Love you guys. For reals. - -Leah ------------------------------ End of onlyJMDL Digest V2010 #242 ********************************* ------- Post messages to the list by clicking here: mailto:joni@smoe.org Unsubscribe by clicking here: mailto:onlyjoni-digest-request@smoe.org?body=unsubscribe
