It is a fabulous restaurant and logistically probably the best choice because of the proximity to the Ogden Museum and Crown Plaza Hotel. Can you please get me an accurate head count of the people that are coming so I can confirm the reservation with Chef Adolfo this week? Also need someone to start organizing the party at my house as far as planning for food and drink. Need to know if anyone has an allergies etc. I can make a run to Sam's Wholesale and local seafood shops etc for purchases. Lets utilize the yahoo site to get some info up for everyones arrival and departure and I will organize the shuttle van with my son Mikey. Thanks. It's nothing but Pazfest II from now till Thursday when I head to UK for a one off concert on the 28th in Surrey. Hope to see some of the JMDL over there! I get back on the 29th and will be in a whirlwind with prep for the shows on the 2nd and 3rd of Sept. World renowned trumpeter Irvin Mayfield is the latest to sign on as an artist to perform. Singer Mia Sheard hosts an annual Joni tribute in Toronto. For the 2009 edition, CBC's Canada Live was on hand to record and broadcast. Posted on their myspace page is a sampling of songs from the March 7th, 2009 performance. My preferences are River, Case of You, Cherokee Louise, and a stunning This Place (better than the original ?!) http://www.myspace.com/jonitribute The singers are: Lori Cullen, Layah Jane, Kevin Fox, Valery Gore, David Celia, Sacha Williamson, Kurt Swinghammer, Snowblink, Dan Goldman, and Mia Sheard. The band is: Kurt Swinghammer (guitar), Chris Gartner (bass), Joan Besen (keys), Kevin Fox (cello) and Troy Feener (drums). Enjoy, Michael in Quebec ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 20 Aug 2010 09:07:07 -0700 (PDT) From: Mags Subject: Re: Myspace Hugh's Room Joni tribute Nice find there, Michael. Lori Cullen is a fantastic singer (saw her at the Tribute to Bruce Cockburn). Hugh's Room is a gorgeous venue, as you've heard us go on and on about. (hi Catherine and Stephen). Anyway, I'm listening to Cherokee Louise right now and it's a wonderful interpretation. Nice to see the collective bringing Joni into the centre as they do so beautifully. Besides - Tom Scott - I am not sure this is the entire LA Express - is that Robben Ford in yellow? Who is on keyboards here? It does not look like Victor Feldman to me. Could it be Larry Nash? It was likey John Guerin on drums and that was Robben on guitar. The band was kinda shaky on that version but I still dug seeing it. Thanks for posting it.
