Anyway, you musicians might like that, he gets into the guitar tunings pretty intensely too. Not a lot of lyric analysis, but he does discuss EVERY song from EVERY album, so props for that. I'm up to TI at the moment. What I learned was that Klein wrote the music for My Secret Place and Lakota for Robert Plant but Plant couldn't use them so Klein turned them over to Joni and she added lyrics. I can definitely hear Plant's voice on those melodies. Crowe 1979 interview I was reading Cameron Crowe's 1979 interview and found that she sang in French! "... I made up songs onstage. I sang in French, badly. I did a lot of things to prevent myself from getting in the way..." I could not find any further information on jonimitchell.com. I knew about singing Coyote, Don Juan's, Edith etc. but I had never heard about French songs (even "badly" sung...) Can anybody unfold the mistery? I've had more fun watching dryers at laundromats. As the fat Comic Book Store owner on the Simpsons might say, "Worst Vacation Slide Show *Ever*!" Others that have occurred to me as good movie fodder are Refuge of the Roads, For the Roses, Coyote... Really a lot of her songs tell good stories; the more impressionistic ones (e.g., Electricity, Don't Interrupt the Sorrow...) would probably do better as music videos. This isn't true of just Joni's work of course. Speaking of which, wouldn't James Taylor's "Millworker" make a great film? I vividly remember him singing it around the time it was released, late '70's/1980(?); made me weep.
