I recently spent a week with Toller Cranston at his home in San Miguel De Allende, Mexico. As all of you probably know already; he is the ice skater in photo on the back of Joni's Hejira Album. His career evolved from artistic figure skater to artist painter. His art/oil painting is quite interesting and has an Asian/Mongolian feel, definitely original/unique. He has exhibits coming up this year in Toronto, Calgary and Winnipeg...I mentioned the Medel to him, Eyes wide he said "please get me some info, I would like to contact" I Googled the Mendel and you have to fill out a form to contact and probably goes to some admin desk - ugh - hate forms...I was hoping to provide Toller more of a direct connect to the Mendel. If you have any contact or info on the Mendel I can share with Toller, please -email me off list.. As far as the Scuddle Butt - Joni connection; All he shared with me was, Joni called him about the being a part of the Hejira album art- he replied " who are you" As in he didn't know who Joni Mitchell was. Wow was that a surprise to me!! He also said that he was also on the Mingus album, which I wasn't aware (maybe it got scratched) and that Joni got him addicted to Limos. That's the scoop... I seldom listen to her, actually, but I think she and Joni were doing very different things, and when I DO listen to Carole (I assume you mean King, not Finklegruver), she holds up for me, in that Brill Building way. Led Zep didn't stand for me back then, nor GFR. Yes: Yes. ELP: not then, not now.
