Joni's a sensitive soul, a Canadian Prairie girl, after all. by the by, I saw Tom Rush at Hugh's Room (best venue in Toronto, next to Massey that is ... (hi Catherine and Stephen ;) Anyway, Tom usually sings either Circle Game or Urge for Going. That night, it was Circle Game, nary a dry eye in the house...I just love the way he sings that way. It was a thrill to meet Tom afterward, and to have a good long chat, whilst I waited for a friend to find batteries for his camera...Tom's a sweet man and is more than willing to engage in discussion about all things Joni. I mean someone can give you a million compliments on the same exact thing and then just one person says something bad. and bam....which normally sticks in your head? Strange how it works. - -Mon - ------------------------------------------- perhaps but ... it is in Joni's nature to remember the negative response of one A*Hole instead of the positive response from the rest of the audience. I would also point out that this recollection was first mentioned in an interview originally published on Feb. 14, 1968 in The Broadside. if there's one thing Joel and I have learned, it's that the closer these recollections are to the time of the event, the more likely they are to be accurate. however, Joni does accentuate the negative. andmoreagain, - - - - - - - - - - s i m o n ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 25 Jun 2010 21:09:40 +1000 From: Mark-Leon Thorne Subject: Re: Our Website Hello everyone. I hope you're all enjoying the Sumer in the north and coping with the Winter in the south. I haven't written much lately because I am going through quite a tough time at the moment and apologise to those who I was writing to off list. I have been in talks with Les Irvin about the JMDL website. I was concerned about added cost but Les assures me that it doesn't cost any more to keep JMDL as well as www.jonimitchell.com Thank you to everyone who made comment on the subject and all of your suggestions have been taken on board by Les. Now comes the tricky part. Although the site will not cost Les any money, it is a huge investment in time. Mainly for the design rather than upkeep. Therefore, Les has proposed a similar contest as he did with www.jonimitchell.com which resulted in a beautiful, easily navigable site. The pay off is a link on every page for the designer which has, apparently lead to quite a bit of business for him. Thanks to those who have clicked on his links. My hobby is graphic design and I have had a little bit of business out of it but, although I have some technical savvy, I have not yet begun on learning web design yet. I have told Les that I am willing to lend my services in any way I am able to but, my expertise in web design is limited so, I ask that anyone who would like to submit a proposal for the new JMDL website to send their suggestions directly to Les. There was a book published years ago by that name with a beautiful and very sultry picture of Joni on the cover, but it only went as far as the Heijera album I believe...certainly nothing of the 90's or beyond. Is this really a new edition?
