And on Facebook and tweeter and in the newspapers and at all those tea parties! I never see them drinking any tea, though. Why do you suppose that is? Seems silly to call something a tea party if there's no tea! And how can anybody not believe Sarah Palin? She knows so much about Russia and Alaska and how to wreck Presidential campaigns. You just have to believe she's somebody important and speaks the absolute truth all the time! Even if she does sound like an ignorant rube most of the time she says it. Heh. I find it pretty funny when people get up-in-arms about social media. It's just another way to communicate and be entertained. Betty White's line was funny because it cleverly played both sides of the fence at the same time. People not on Facebook get their opinion voiced on national TV in a great one-liner. People on Facebook get an ironic one-liner that playfully winks at them - both a hat tip and a friendly rib to the very people that got her the job. And of course it also consistently plays into what has become the single running Betty White joke - friendly old lady saying/doing unexpected (often shocking) things. Fortunately her delivery is so charming and well done, no one minds or even notices the repetitiveness. Mark, I'd actually been on the mailing list for some time before then but rarely posted. Not that I'm a prolific contributor now but baby steps. But I definitely recognized your name from here when we "friended". (Can't remember who friended who now.) - -Corey On Jun 8, 2010, at 12:43 AM, Mark-Leon Thorne wrote: > LOL@Cory > > Ahem, I first met you on FaceBook, Cory, before you showed up here. > > Mark in Sydney ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 8 Jun 2010 09:01:51 -0700 (PDT) From: Em Subject: Re: Our Website now veering off topic but then, that's SNL for ya! That seems more like an argument to keep the discussion list stuff on www.jonimitchell.com . However, it would work if there is a prominent link to www.jmdl.com. I like Corey's idea of keeping the discussion list archive at www.jmdl.com . It should be a site dedicated to this discussion list (as the name implies). A central location to find anything that has been discussed about Joni. Jimmy, www.jmdl.com would be an ideal place to keep all our pics and profiles too. www.jonimitchell.com is the place for pics of Joni. FaceBook really is a different beast. I know that most of us are on there but it's really a social networking place not specifically pertaining to discussions on Joni Mitchell as this is. It would not be a duplicate if we had www.jmdl.com. There is, however, a FB group for JoniFests where you can upload your photographs but, it's purpose is mainly to let people know when an upcoming JoniFest is being planned. Please feel free to join. Dave Blackburn and I are adminostrators. Cassy has really expressed my feelings about it. I see www.jmdl.com as being quite different from the main artist website. Les is looking for some direction for the site. Now, I'm not quite sure what he means by that. Whether is means design or content or what. Maybe you could give some more detail about what you're looking for, Les. So, there is no further cost for the web space but what about time and effort? Does it need to be off loaded to a separate administrator? I know that my designs dominated the wallpaper section but there were actually three other contributors including Les Irvin's wonderful designs which were, by the way, the most downloaded of all. Personally, I feel that Joni Mitchell fans who are not musically inclined need an outlet to express themselves, visually.
