You can read it here:- _The Song House by Trezza Azzopardi: review - Telegraph_ (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/books/bookreviews/7771561/The-Song-House-by-Trezza-Azzopar di-review.html) The book's mood is apparently set by the music it mentions - Nick Drake, Joni Mitchell and John Martyn. Could be worth a read. When I started to watch this one I almost stopped it, thinking what's the point? But I stuck with it and I'm glad I did. Without hearing the actual song accompanying the video, and there being no lyrics, I found myself concentrating on the images. And they are very beautiful. The video is very stark. There is a chair and nothing else in the setting. I love the soft, peach colored background. It seems to off-set the two performers perfectly - the plain black clothes, the skin tones, Joni's hair which also seems to match the color of the chair she sits on. I wonder if Joni made that particular artistic choice? A painter would know about color and mood and how it all fits with the main figures in the images. The images themselves are beautifully composed. Joni and Seal are both so expressive and their embraces are so tender and moving. They must have a deep soulful connection. I loved their duet on Seal's 'If I Could'. I think they may be kindred spirits. The melody, lyrics, guitar and vocal are all very haunting and beautiful. This one sounds like it would have fit somewhere into 'Song to a Seagull'. I think this song is one of her great masterpieces. It's interesting to compare it to 'The Way It Is' video. The voice is different and the writing is more mature on 'The Magdalene Laundries'. Her style of delivery has also changed in the years between the two. But both have that haunting quality. The lyrics for both songs are clearly written by someone with intelligence and depth. They provoke both thoughts and emotions in the listener. This woman seemed to have a wisdom back in 1967 that transcended her years. It deepened even more as she matured.
