[Michael Paz Subject: Re: A SPECIAL Joni covers surprise! Bob, I actually am a fan of Janet's music so, this is a double cool surprise for me. Thank you so much. I'd heard this existed for a long time but was beginning to think it was a myth. I love that she has tried to remain faithful to Joni's arrangement yet, somehow still puts her own spin on it. The keyboards are perfect. It's such an even mix of Janet and Joni. Thanks again, Bob. Thanks Janet. It was recorded for the 2000 Reprise "A Case Of Joni" which was never released; however there were (2) different versions of the CD that were created for promotional/other purposes. These can be seen at: http://jonimitchell.com/music/inspiredbyjoni_albums.cfm As luck would have it, I was able to acquire the "Unmastered Listening Ref" copy recently and was extremely excited to do so as this collection was one of my "holy grail" items. Most of the recordings have weasled their way to us already, but some have not so it's great to finally have them after 10 years of waiting and hoping. It's been so long. Three tunes that have found Mack and he is enthralled. It is with great joy that I write to you all this evening to announce the 10th anniversary of Pazfest. Yes folks I swore I would never do this again, but I lied! The magic weekend will be Thursday September 2 thru Monday September 6, 2010. Yes Labor Day weekend. As a bonus, it is Southern Decadence weekend in New Orleans. This gives you an "alternative" to turn to when you get weary of all the worship and late nights singing Joni Mitchell songs and Led Zep covers etc. The official Tribute To Joni MItchell will be again be a fundraiser featuring a variety of musicians from the JMDL as well as New Orleans and National Musicians at the Howlin' Wolf either Friday night or Sunday NIght (depending on the vote taken by everyone coming and the musicians participating). We have about a month to commit to an actual date. Once again there will be a planned meal at a local restaurant, a party at my house with food booze and the JMDL Concert. The weekend will start off on Thursday night with a concert preview at the New Orleans Ogden Museum of Southern Art (where I am at this moment listening to Susan Cowsill who has again signed up to do the show with us). We will feature a few people from the JMDL as well as myself and a few New Orleans musicians to promote the show. The fundraiser will once again benefit the Ruth Paz Foundation and I am also donate a portion to Les Irvin to help keep the website going. 10 years ago my sister and I started building a Burn Hospital in Honduras and the proceeds of the first concert kicked off the fundraising for the construction of the hospital. 10 years later we are going to open the doors of the very first Burn Hospital in Central America that will benefit the poor people of Honduras as well as neighboring countries. This is the first official shout out to see how many people are interested in coming. I am going to be asking the help of many people who have offered to try and track everything and make this thing a roaring success. I have an official hotel in the French Quarter that will be $99 per night. It's a great hotel and it is possible we will have an event there as well. I am sorry this took me so long to get going but it was a variety of challenges that I have no overcome and we are free to plan. I am open to suggestions and welcome all musicians and will try to help out as much as I can for musicians that wanna come but can't afford it etc. Amtrak is a possible sponsor and I should be able to provide free train rides to musicians coming to participate in the concert. I'd like to invite Brian back to play again but instead of headlining the show, I'd really like you to open the show so everyone can see you. Hopefully this one will be better planned and we will have a great time and nobody gets left out. Please write to me and let me know your thoughts and let the games begin!
