I think that impresses me as much as anything. I have sung Joni, as you know, for years. and I have had my moments but, goodness knows, I sadly can't deliver anything like that. I have the cd, so don't have the outakes. I'll have to get on to that. Now I have heard the CD once more, but you need to hear it many times to give a qualified response. First impression: a CD you can hear over and over again due to the quality of the songs, the musicians, the arrangements and of course a brilliant Robin on vocals. It takes some experienced musicians to dare the slow versions and the solos are fantastic. World class. As I have said before: Joni - songs are a perfect playground. And for instrumentalists like Mutts of the Planet it's a flying carpet. For the record, the version of Blue we have recorded here is a brand new jazz harmonization, approached in a sort of Chet Baker minimalist style. The version we played at Holycombe was Joni's piano part played on guitar. River is also a new harmonization. It is the culmination of several years work, developing the arrangements, finding the perfect band, and then months in the studio. We've sent a couple of copies to Joni herself via her management so, if they pass it on to her, she might be intrigued enough by a CD and a band named after lines in her lyrics to give it a listen, Morgellon's discomfort permitting. You can be SURE I'll tell you about it if she responds! A few folks have reported difficulties in ordering, trying to use the click through link at http://jonimitchell.com/ and the PayPal button at http://www.robinadler.com/ . I talked to PayPal last night and they tested the links and assured me they are fine but said often you need to delete the browser's cache when links are acting weird. So if you encounter error messages please try that before despairing--Bob M got error messages at first and then it subsequently worked properly so who knows how these things work? Of course you can also go 20th century and mail a check for $15 per copy + $3 shipping (US only I'm afraid, foreign checks won't work) to us. Make it out to Robin Adler 1008 S. Live Oak Park Rd Fallbrook CA 92028 Thanks for listening! We pretty much aimed this album at the hardcore Joni fan, and that of course is YOU! I like it when creative juices flow and the end result brings more exposure to Joni through a completely different genre. This experience got me thinking though (that's always dangerous) about whether any of Joni's own music causes head-banging? Are there any songs that really get you rocking in the car with your foot sort of just pressing on the accelerator a bit harder than may be legal? I know "Car on a Hill" kind of gets me going sometimes and also the Shadows and Light version of "Black Crow." What about you?
