I have Switch and it's usually pretty good. It works well with .flac. Try converting the files in Quicktime. It may only work with the pro version though. All my best Joni tape tree videos are in VHS format. But I am still holding out for the ultimate entertainment system that has a turntable, an 8-track, a double cassette deck, a VHS, CD/DVD/DVR, Ipod station, satellite broadband, 40 inch HDTV, and quadrophonic surround sound speakers (of course!). This is my quest! :-) The TNT Tribute is awesome, but my favorite of the night was definitely Cyndi Lauper's version of Carey. So cool. I also saw her play dulcimer on Rosie O'Donnell once. I don't think she played a Joni song, but she was amazing. ___________________ /___________________\ ||-------------------|| || Sue Tierney || || sem8@cornell.edu || ||___________________|| || O etch-a-sketch O || \___________________/ "It's all a dream she has awake." - Joni Mitchell - -----Original Message----- - ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 11 Mar 2010 07:09:44 -0800 From: Susan Glumac Subject: TNT tribute Hi everyone, All the talk about the TNT tribute has me wondering again......does anyone out there have this on DVD or the ability to make a DVD? My VHS copy stopped working a few years ago. I would, of course, supply the DVD and postage. This is my quest! :-) > Hi Sue and Susan Although it doesn't have EVERYTHING you want, Sue, for the reasons of video transfer, I have just bought a Blue Ray recorder from which I believe I can transfer my videos onto the hard drive and burn DVD's. I haven't done it yet but it looks straight forward. I have also bought a Panasonic 37 inch LCD TV on the basis that someone I know said it almost equalled plasma resolution, together with the blue ray recorder and a small sound Panasonic corner unit that do that has built in woofers and sub woofers and lord knows what else. Two nights ago I watched Fiddle and the Drum with Lieve who was staying with us after being an extra in a movie (ask HER all about that) and I have to say that it was quite brilliant. Not quite like being there, I'm sure, but it was a good second best. I haven't yet set up the internet connection for the TV, but it's possible to connect and see You Tube and all sorts. The trouble is, all this gear costs an arm and a leg at the moment, but I'm sure it'll come down. Steph has just retired so it's just SPEND, SPEND, Spend - which we've never really done in the 30 years we've hung out together, so we are going to enjoy it! Anyway, have a lovely week-end and I hope that's helpful Anita x ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 13 Mar 2010 11:32:02 +1100 From: Elisabeth Paschke Subject: jonifest at kangaroo valley Hello the billed gathering hasn't materialised for this weekend at Kangaroo Valley in Australia, perhaps in the future. If any one wants to come to Harrietville Victoria and play talk Joni that would be nice to get in touch. We have a Sony HD LCD TV and a Blu-Ray player. Some of the Blu-Ray movies we've bought are amazing in this format. I think Blu-Ray is definitely worth the money if you have an HDTV. I think I have a VHS of the TNT tribute somewhere. Unfortunately, we don't have a VHS player anymore. Once DVDs came in, I went crazy collecting them and now it's Blu-Ray. I recently bought and watched the Criterion Collection's Blu-Ray, completely re-mastered version of 'Howard's End' and it is gorgeous. One of the best movies ever made, imo, and it looks almost like it did in a movie theater. From what I have read, some of the earlier 3-strip Technicolor movies ('The Wizard of Oz', 'Gone With the Wind', etc.) look even sharper in re-mastered Blu-Ray technology. The digital re-mastering can match up the 3 film elements that made Technicolor possible even better than the technology available at the time the movies were made could do it. So you actually get a sharper picture. I would love to have a DVD version of the TNT Tribute. And I agree that Cyndi Lauper's rendition of 'Carey' was one of the highlights of the show, eclipsed only, perhaps by Richard Thompson's guitar playing and certainly by Siquomb herself breaking hearts at the end with her rendition of 'Both Sides Now'. Didn't Susan Sarandon do one of the verbal tributes? I seem to remember Joni saying something like 'I don't know what to say. Susan, tell me what I feel!' when she got to the stage.
