Dave, k.d. and James were the main standouts for me too but, I actually shed a tear when Shawn and Mary sang Amelia. It was also obviously from the heart like it was a highlight of their lives. Wynona Judd has never been a big draw card in this part of the world but, I just loved her on this show. I also love her cover of Help Me. To my knowledge, this show has never been broadcast on any channel in Australia. Network television nor cable. And boy, if you don't think 10 years is a long time, check out your passport photos for each renewal. What a great period that was. I was SO fortunate to have been at the Rosie rehearsal (AMAZING, Larry and Vince were still working out kinks in some of the copied charts for "Answer Me My Love") and taping, the Letterman taping (saw Joni curbside afterwards), the TNT tribute, AND the two BSN shows at The Theatre at MSG a month later. There's a review with my pics somewhere on JoniMitchell.com of the second MSG show...with all the recent changes I'm not sure if a direct link works anymore. I don't think I had more fun since then. I had never heard of Diana Krall before that tribute and now I am a huge fan of hers...> I agree with all of your points, Stewart, and especially with this one. In a night of strong performances, Diana's was hands-down the standout. It almost seemed that the whole audience was holding their breath. And literally overnight, her cover of "A Case Of You" BECAME the standard. Almost every cover I hear of the song from that point forward has emulated Diana's lyrical patterns and emotion. Much the same can be said about Counting Crows' cover of BYT, like it or don't.
