Mark and Travis might be going but, I'm happy for you to carry the love on my behalf. Your name is familiar to me. It's nice to hear from me. As a citizen of Oz and a friend of Dorothy's, it warms my heart that you will be clicking your heels together at the Paramount. Fine part of the world you live in. Travis, our friend Melanie and yours truly have tickets for the ballet. This will be the first professional ballet I have ever attended and I am thrilled that it has been created using Joni's music with Joni's input. The Paramount Theater's web-site still says 'Joni Mitchell is scheduled to participate in the post-show Q&A, which is included with the show ticket.' So cross your fingers, Rellie. A good friend of mine's sister lived in Salem for several years and I spent a Christmas down there once. It was memorable because it snowed and there was enough of the stuff that we went sledding down the hill in front of the house on Christmas night. I hadn't sledded since I was a kid in Iowa. It was so much fun. Great memories. I also have a friend that lives in Eugene who took me for my first visit to the Pacific coast, the first time I saw an ocean. The Oregon coast is a magical place and I have been in love with the sea ever since. Actually 2 people offered to buy me a ticket so I could go, one of whom I've never even met! The generosity of the JMDL never ceases to amaze me. I had pretty much written off going to the show, I felt a little strange about accepting the earlier offer but when this offer came in, it is someone I know and love and who phoned me to say she was "taking over my life" and insisting I allow her to buy us tickets. Who was I to refuse in the face of such munificence? So, thank you very much my JMDL angels... now if only she is healthy enough to participate in the Q&A and OMG... I could even finally get to meet her! (wishful thinking I know) I am not very familiar with the Paramount Theater and unsure if there is a spot we could meet post-ballet to compare notes but it would be really great if we could all get together. I'm a friend of spirit, so to speak. Enjoy for us all, OK? I've read this list daily since 1998 so I feel like I know ALL of you even though i rarely write. PattiP I've loved your postings for years and totally relate to your JoniOCD. My husband and grown daughters make fun of me too. So I just wanted everyone on the list to know 'll be carrying the love and laughter of all you wonderful kindred spirits into the Paramount Theater with me Tuesday night. Happy happy joy joy. I haven't felt this kind of electricity since my solo pilgrimage to Saskatoon for Joni's Art exhibt at the Mendel. Giddy indeed. Like Dorothy said in the Wizard of OZ : There's no place like Joan.
