So beautiful. I kept hearing Yes music in my head as I was watching. Tales from Toporaphic Oceans and Close to Edge. Happy New Year to all. May we all see such beauty in 2010. Hi Bob, Thanks for another wonderful set of covers! I particularly enjoy: William Gamble's of Cactus Tree (my favorite in this set, he sounds like a mix of James Taylor and Leonard Cohen with a sprinkle of Bob Dylan, and Neil Young) Joe Moe's cover of Car on a Hill Helen Russell's cover of River Anne Hampton Callaway's cover of Carey (the guy singing background vocals is Rundgren-like) Others that stand out to me are: Bill Barwick's cover of Urge for Goin' (excellent, but it made me laugh thinking of Monica's comment long ago about laxatives... this is the version that would fit that commercial). Erlend Bratland sounds a lot like Kris Allen to me (can't help but notice "brat" in his name)... sorry Erlend. Can't go wrong with any of the BSN cover's in this compilation. Thanks for giving me a smile and joy in my heart as I listen to these covers. Very nice start to the New Year. {{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{Bob}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}} Love, Laura ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 2 Jan 2010 08:04:32 -0800 (PST) From: Bob Muller Subject: Re: Ring in the new decade with Joni Covers - Volume 120 now open for business! Hi Laura, and thanks for that. I think the collection stands up pretty good. So far about 20 downloads in less than a day, so that is very cool! In case it was missed, here's another link to Covers #120: http://tinyurl.com/y9kgm7f Now it's off for a run in the chilly weather winter. Don't have the ufg but I'm going just the same. LOL She's quite the accomplished artist! My favorite was Joe Moe's "Car On A Hill". The different spin he put on it was wonderful, and like Bob said, it's rarely covered. Love it. http://www.swinglesingers.com/shop/cds/ferris-wheels-cd-temporarily-unavailable-2009.html (the full track is streamable on the far right) The Swingles have previously given us covers of "In France..." and "River". Should have known that the first JC of the new year would be BSN, still - this one is cheese free. Hi all, Anytime any of my musical heroes (among them JM, Bacharach and Fagen/Becker/Steely Dan) puts out anything, I'm thrilled, and the mid/late 90's augur well: one by joni, two by the octogenarian Burt(!) and one each by Becker and Fagen. I liked Morph the Cat and even found Circus Money pretty listenable -- but they're still best together, and the fact they've been touring together of late makes me for hopeful for something from the Dan soon. Incidentally, received today: Court&Spark 33&1/3, and Will You Take Me As I Am?
