Luckily, we have no snow here and everyone is at home, snug & safe this year. Our Christmas present is a new cat. She is a stray that was pretty much living in our carport. Not much more than a kitten. Travis took her to the vet, she did not have a chip and so he left her there to be spayed and chipped. She's been spending most of the time in our bedroom since she's been home. The other cats and the dog are all very curious. It's going to take a bit of time for everyone to get used to the new member of our family. The vet thinks she is about 6 months old. She obviously has been around people before because she rubs up against our legs and purrs like crazy when we pet her. Travis said she didn't seem to mind being handled at the vet and purred so loudly that the vet had a hard time trying to hear her heartbeat. It's possible she was abandoned by someone. She is very pretty, long hair, mostly white with some dark brown markings, brown ears and blue eyes. A real sweetheart. Travis named her. Her name is Joni. I swear it was Travis that came up with the name. Catherine talked about a particular Christmas carol that has come to have special significance. In recent years, for me, it is a verse out of 'It Came Upon a Midnight Clear'. The one that goes: For lo, the days are hastening on By prophets long foretold When with the ever-circling years Comes round the Age of Gold When Peace shall over all the earth Its ancient splendors fling And the whole world give back the song Which now the angels sing That's the version I remember, anyway. As John Lennon said 'War is over, if you want it.' And as Joni said, let's all let our little lights shine and keep hope alive. Happy Holidays to all.
