One of the guys who works for me at the University is doing Neil Young. These are always great shows: *SATURDAY AUG 15 WMNF PRESENTS at Skippers Smokehouse* *Woodstock : The 40th Anniversary Re-Creation *The Woodstock Music and Arts Festival, the most famous and important music and cultural event of the 20th century, began on August 15, 1969. 40 years later WMNF re-creates the festival with 18 of the best local bands each playing the highlights of the set of one of the Woodstock bands. Bands will play in the same order they played back in 69. Woodstock started with Richie Havens frenetic strumming and impassioned singing; we will start with Acho Brother playing highlights of Richie Havens Woodstock set. It wraps up at midnight with Soul2Earth channeling Jimi Hendrix with nothing but peace love and music inbetween. 2:00- 2:20 *Acho Brother* as Richie Havens 2:30-2:40 *Ted Lukas and the Misled* as Arlo Guthrie 2:50-3:05 *Liz Hollister*, as Joan Baez 3:10-3:15 *Ronny Elliott* as Country Joe MacDonald 3:20-3:30 *Rob Aptheker* as John Sebastian 3:40 -4:00 *Point 6* as Santana 4:10 -4:25 *Captain Obvious* as Mountain 4:35-4:55 *Union South featuring Jessica Atkinson* as Janis Joplin 5:05-5:25 *Uncle Johns Band* as The Grateful Dead 5:35-5:55 *Talk To Mark* as Creedence Clearwater Revival 6:05-6:25 *Four Star Riot* as Sly and the Family Stone 6:35-6:55 *The Beauville*s as The Who 7:05-7:25 *Big Wiggler* as Jefferson Airplane 7:35-7:50 *Scott Elliott* as Joe Cocker with *Talk To Mark* as The Grease Band 8:00-8:20 *Johnny G. Have been reading Neil's bio (Shakey) and he says he was basically trying real hard to stay off-camera while the others, especially Stills and Cros did the opposite - tried to be seen as much as poss. and supposedly even changed the way they played, to ham for the camera. Which seems pretty innocent, but for Neil, at the time it was a bit disgusting - at least that's what I'm getting from the book. They PLAYED to the camera! feh! the scum..... So are you going to this thing, Jerry? :) Em ps: they should have a Joni person hidden offstage somewhere..to represent her in NY PPS: you know some of this sounds really good, actually...I'm in the mood to hear somebody TRY and play like Alvin Lee...heehhhehhhh.... ppps: I wish I could see this but not actually go. or go and sit in a hidden corner with a bag over my head. Too hat for that tho... - --- On Tue, 7/21/09, Gerald Notaro wrote: From: Gerald Notaro Subject: WMNF and Woodstock To: "Joni List" , "knarf" Date: Tuesday, July 21, 2009, 11:18 AM For those of you in Florida, from Joni luvin' WMNF.
