Sharing it with you all so I have some good company in the "wish I could be in that number" category. Also he told me that he is doing the whole Court and Spark album on August 6. I am going to try and fly up for that as I think I am off on that night. I am off to sunny Florida for 12 days. Hope you all are well and I will be looking in between fishning and boating and general libations. Lub Paz Begin forwarded message: Michael, Once again, thanks for the help in this VG8 stuff. I'm doing this concert tonight--info below, so I'm not going to be able to focus on your missive till this weekend. My brain is trying to get off hbook with this super hard music. I'll let you know how it goes, this weekend, Thanks again Michael! John Dear Friends: Please forgive this mass e-mail, but I want to let you all know about a tremendously exciting concert on Friday evening, June 12 at 8pm at the Nimoy Thalia of Symphony Space (Broadway at 95th Street). Featured performers for the event are David Del Tredici, John Kelly, and Margaret Kampmeier. The program will include the concert version of Brother, a dramatic re-imagining of eight of David's songs by the brilliant performance artist John Kelly. The piece (on texts by Kelly, Paul Monette, Allen Ginsberg, Jaime Manrique, and Lewis Carroll) is a compelling journey of a gay man's experience of grief, hope, frustration, joy, and love. Also on the program will be three piano works by Steven Burke, performed by the acclaimed virtuoso Peggy Kampmeier: Night Fantasy, Alchemy, and Ecstatic Song. Tickets for the concert are $20/$10 for students and seniors, and are available at the door or from Symphony Space (212 864-5400 or at www.symphonyspace.org ). The concert is sponsored by Then & Now, a presenting organization that Steve Burke and I co-founded to honor prominent contemporary American composers and to celebrate their influence on others. Hope to see you on June 12.
