jazz diary on BBC radio three at 16:00 bst this afternoon looked at Joni's
jazz output. they referred to the years 1975-80 as the "golden age of Joni's
jazz era". it was an excellent programme with the music taking precedence
over chat in that the tracks were played right through and the analysis was
cogent yet brief and to the point.

definitely worth a listen and is available on the bbc i player for the next
few days.

I listened to the programme and enjoyed it. My sisters were driving and
turned on the radio and there she was- Joni Mitchell !! They too enjoyed it
and were itching to tell me about it when we met up. It's so good when
everyone gets the chance to listen to Joni and then get together and
celebrate the fact. Jonifests must be wonderful things. So good to hear Joni
on the radio but I must say there seems to be more of that than ever these
days- never enough though but all the same she is getting more airplay than
she has had in many a year which is wonderful ! My little niece who is eight
years of age sat down and listened to Joni one day and said "She is a
brilliant singer." She was quite simply struck with awe. It was lovely to
witness.

wasnt that the Refuge of the Roads tour? It was a beautiful addition to a
song so beautifully sung by Joni throughout that tour. I was there, in

that's it.  i was thinking it was --for a fist full of nothing -but you nailed it.
we saw them twice, at universal amphitheater in studio city, an amazing show.  whatever the tour was it was the one where she encored with a smoking "heard it thru the grapevine" and then in irvine.
at the irvine show she finished for free and ended the concert mid show.

That WAS a good show, Joni played one of the longest sets of any of those shows. I've got a lot of those Wild Things shows, including that one and it is one of the best - I think she was glad to be playing for a hometown crowd.
