Yes, Herbie's album was discussed at length and I think most people feel the way you do; it takes several listens to get into it. I didn't like it at first but I have come to see it as a masterpiece now. I mean, it has Joni's endorsement. What could be better? I particularly like the bonus tracks that were available through various retailers. Most of the time (other than at the beginning and end where you pack up and in and out and all about) you just sit there until someone comes up to vote for their ballot. I'm sure you've seen the bored faces of poll workers when voting. Anyway, that being said, I read and finished Will You Take Me As I Am that day. I know some of you briefly chatted about it and some asked for more comments on it. Anyway, overall, I found it to be a very interesting read. However, I am an easy person to win over when it comes to reading. The majority of what I read I enjoy (except for when I was in school and they forced some real horrors on you!). I know my taste. One thing that I really did like was the fact that I actually read some new information, or atleast new to me. There were a couple of tidbits that I didn't hear before or did not know and I've read my way up, down, in, and out through some Joni books, articles, interviews, etc etc. I also particularly enjoyed the history of confessional writing. I also came to understand why Joni really does not like the term "confessional songwriting." I can understand her aversion to the phrase though I think it has outgrown having anything to do with sins and penance or any sort of religious or moral connotation that one has nothing something wrong and is owing up to it. It is more like one is EXPOSING one's self, no limits, no holding back and so forth. I also liked the end part of what Joni likes. Overall, it was an in depth look at Joni's "Blue" period, a period which she is basically known for. But rather than only specifically at Joni's relationships it covered far more ground than that. I appreciated that. - -Monika NR: Twilight-Stephenie Meyer (I want to see what all the fuss is about!) ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 11 May 2009 15:58:43 -0400 From: "Gary Z." Subject: House (SJC) I know there are a lot of "House" (the TV show) fans out there, (I'm one too) and while checking out tonight's TV listings, I noticed that tonight's Season 5 finale is interestingly titled "Both Sides Now." I won't hold my breath for any Joni content in this episode, but you never know.... Best regards, Gary Z.
