I think the new site is great, I am really in awe of all the work that you and Raffaelle have put into it. Also thanks for the work of all the others (the tabs, wall paper, covers etc etc). I will try to do my bit with some typing. (As you know, I offered help before but never knew how to get hold of the texts to be typed out.) Can I just make one constructive (I hope!) suggestion? At the moment, people who discover this site, presumably people like us who are interested in Joni Mitchell's music, may never discover from that site that this discussion list exists. There is only the word "JMDL" (pretty meaningless to an outsider) at the bottom of the home page. So I would suggest that it is spelled out more clearly that there is this discussion list, and that people can join up through such-and-such link. Also, the info on the JMDL site is quite out of date. For instance, it still lists the 2008 Jonifest as "to come". It also mentions the "Joni in fiction" section but that seems to have disappeared. Could it not be preserved somewhere as a tribute to Bob Murphy, even if it is no longer maintained and updated? I hope this is useful. All the best, Lieve ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 15 Mar 2009 06:32:36 +1300 From: "hell" Subject: RE: Joni in the New Yorker / image Randy wrote: > http://tinyurl.com/cagzl5 > > I still don't get it. Maybe the cartoonist thought Joni > wrote "So Far Away". They appear to be sitting in a Starbucks - maybe it's a satirical view of how the financial crisis is affecting companies. Many Starbuck franchises have had to close, but Joni Mitchell is still being played in the remaining ones? I know it's a bit far-fetched, but I looked at some of Victoria Roberts' other cartoons, and she seems to be one of "those" kinds of cartoonists (my least favourite, to be honest - trying to be smarter than her audience). Hell - in a dark NZ (well, it is 6am on a Sunday...) ------------------------------ End of onlyJMDL Digest V2009 #73 ******************************** ------- Post messages to the list by clicking here: mailto:joni@smoe.org Unsubscribe by clicking here: mailto:onlyjoni-digest-request@smoe.org?body=unsubscribe
