Some generous soul has uploaded the entire Red Rocks concert (1983). Some nice intros from Joni, too - after CA, we've to imagine Edith and her kingpin in the Cotton Avenue club... Like Monika, I'd rank DJRD (the song) as one of Joni's best ever - wonderfully intelligent, vivid imagery, and sooo sexy! And her guitar playing on that whole album is superb. (I do wish she'd kept the guitars on Dreamland, tho...) A very great album. Season's greetings to you all. 'Here in glasgow, it's pouring rain...' While Joni never made a movie of it she did render a painting which includes Cotton Avenue. It is called Axilar Moonrise and can be found as painting number 99 in the painter section of JoniMitchell.com. There is also an interview with Joni included which explains the painting and its relationship to the album and the song. That painting is also on the back cover of the Mendel Gallery book. So far I've seen Sir Elton John, Lou Reed & Julian Schnable, and today I had time to catch the Bill Clinton show I'd recorded. At the very end of the show, Pat Metheny played a duet with a bass player (I missed his name - if it was given) and when introduced Elvis mentioned that Pat had played with some notable artists, including Joni. I am looking forward to next week's show on the 24th with James Taylor and plan to record all of these shows.
