He will leave a gap that cannot really be filled. May his journey be filled with light and love. I saw them last year, or earlier this year, and it was one of the finest concert I've ever seen. Wayne was understandably exhausted at the end because of all the effort he put into the show, but he looked nowhere near 75. They're a great band. mike np Suzanne - Ian McCulloch ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 21 Nov 2008 09:30:38 EST From: PassScribe@aol.com Subject: Re: "Smurf" Regarding: > From: Ashara Stansfield > Subject: To all those that know Bob "Smurf" Murphy > I'm posting to the list and also to Ashara who I must thank in advance for forwarding my note to Bob as soon as possible. I heard a while back that Bob had a problem with his health, and that he didn't want to broadcast it to all for fear of having it be a "prime subject" on this list. Of course, now it is, and rightly so... Bob was a big supporter of this list and a very popular guy. While I'm moved to tears thinking of the impending outcome, I am SO glad I met Bob at the two JoniFests I attended at Full Moon. At the last one, a couple of years ago, I was fortunate to hitch a ride with Bob on a trip into Woodstock where he wanted to look around and pick up a few things. During our time together, I got to know him more intimately than I could have just hanging with him in a crowd, and found him to be a really great person to talk to and be with. A lovely man! During our trip to Woodstock together, I asked Bob if we could take a little detour, about two-miles out of town. A couple I knew from my Todd Rundgren Fest days had bought a place there some ten or fifteen years ago, and I hadn't seen them since then. Bob graciously took the time to stop off and meet my other friends and actually seemed to enjoy talking to them and finding out about them during our visit. I hope this note is not too late and that Bob is lucid enough for him to hear/read these words from me, and know that I thoroughly enjoyed our time together, that I will ALWAYS remember him, and that I will miss him deeply. Almost forgot and wanted all to know (referring to my previous post about Bob): one of the reasons Bob wanted to go into Woodstock on that day, during the last JoniFest I shared with him, was that he wanted to get a cake at a bakery there (we looked ALL OVER town for some candles !), to bring back to the Fest, because it was someone's birthday. Sorry, I can't remember who's birthday, but it just goes to show you that he was thinking of someone else and wanted to do something for her. Kenny B ************** One site has it all. Anyway, Does anybody know what his favorite Joni album is? Does he like Dancing Clown? The first time we met in person, he did an Ethel Merman version of "The Last Time I Saw Richard." He burned me a copy of her cd when I was staying with him in Boston a year and a half ago. Actually, we're jamming now w/guitar and fiddle but listened to Amy while we were making a delicious gourmet, raw dinner. I can't image a jonifest without Bob there...he always knows just what to say at the right moment. I remember when Jody picked me up from Logan airport and we were trying to get directions from Bob because one of the main tunnels were closed...he said the police were probably shooting liberals again and we were soon bursting out in laughter.
