Not that they don't play an occasional song from her now, but there will be much more scattered throughout that particular day, in case anyone feels like tuning in or listening online (streaming at WFUV.org) at work or whatever. (I wonder if there are any other stations doing this.) This past Sunday morning, their Sunday Morning Breakfast Club played an entire half hour (or hour, I tuned in after it had been on for a while) of Joni and covers of her songs by other artists. No cigarette company would ever do it, but it would be pretty funny.? Maybe the Stop Smoking groups could use it in their commercials. I liked the suggestion for "California".? It would be perfect for the California Board of Tourism, and wouldn't even seem like a sell-out. Or how about "Dry Cleaner from Des Moines" for Las Vegas? Hi! Tonight I would just love to know what Joni is doing. I'd love to know where and with whom she is spending such a historic night. This election is especially moving for me because I feel like a time-traveler, returning to my passion in the 1960's (relax, I still have lots of passion to go until this middle aged lady returns home). I remember Joni coming into my life and capturing my soul in 1968. That was the same year I graduated from high school. I thought this was the most wonderful and magical gift I received... my first Joni album. Since then Joni has helped form so many aspects of my life as I emerged from adolescence, to young adulthood and then traveled through my 30's, 40's and now my 50's..and my approach to my 60's. Like Anita...(your post moved me deeply), I have experienced so many "coincidences/synchronicity with many members of our Joni family. Being on the JMDL unites us globally. I'm in the 1960's in my mind, marching in The Poor People's March, and so many civil rights's marches. I remember Martin Luther's Speech...hearing Martin Luther's speech also helped to shape my set of values and personal view of our country. I remember the energy I felt...and staying up all night so many nights..."I love to dance"...and having many friends next to me on those famous occasions. And I had a transistor and listened for Joni's music but rarely heard it on the radio stations. Tonight history will be made in many aspects. I know Joni will have many emotions and reactions. Maybe, just following her 65TH birthday, she'll be, once again, inspired to share her music and wisdom with us throughout the world. Oh...I can't imagine Joni allowing any portion of any of her music to be used in an advertising campaign. But, it is fun to think of all the possibilities. My love to you all. For those of you piano playing and Joni music scholar listers out there (especially cKarma who has been gently but firmly goading me for over a year to do this) I present the comprehensive and unabridged score to Judgement of the Moon and Stars. All parts of all instruments are transcribed note for note over a period of weeks and have been painstakingly proofread by master pianist Barnaby Finch. I would highly recommend 2-sided printing if you print a copy as it is 9 pages long!! Les, I am hoping that as the JMDL piano literature library grows we may see a separate menu item for it, outside of "guitar tabs" so that it is more intuitive to find. Enjoy... http://tinyurl.com/6foj7s cheers, Dave B ------------------------------ End of onlyJMDL Digest V2008 #224 ********************************* ------- Post messages to the list by clicking here: mailto:joni@smoe.org Unsubscribe by clicking here: mailto:onlyjoni-digest-request@smoe.org?body=unsubscribe
