Joni could never have stopped after her first six albums... she was destined to do more. The fact that Joni is relatively unknown by some people today while adored by hordes of others is testimony to her artistic status. I just need to point out for the record that this discussion has not been a debate with large numbers on each side. It has basically been one person (for the most part, anyway) writing several anti-HoSL posts a day, which could give the illusion of HOSL being unpopular. I'm not saying this makes him wrong, only that to imply there's some sort of big split or controversy regarding the merits of this album, always rated high here, would be inaccurate. There's nothing wrong with not loving every Joni album equally. I'm not a big fan of Shine, for example. (Yet, somehow, I manage to refrain from attacking it daily. Amazing restraint, huh?) ;) I'll just add that it's my favorite Joni album overall (the high points of Hejira are higher for me, but I find HoSL more solid).
