TO me there is the one on BSN and a few others (including Dave and Robin's!), and a whole load of terrible terrible versions.... As for Abba, I guess I can't explain what it is. There is a lot of 'happy' pop-music that doesn't have that effect on me, but Abba and Michael Jackson just get on my nerves. I won't get into the gory details of how perfidiouslyI dislike them, since so many people love them! Have a nice weekend... Aye, there's the rub.... the tentacles of the US and the policies of its administrations affect the whole globe. The housing market collapse for example is all tied to US banking, so it's hitting the rest of the world just the same. Most American liberals fantasize about escaping to some more progressive country about every four years (Denmark my first choice) only to find that THEIR governments are becoming conservative, and the social(ist/ized) systems originally so fair minded and compassionate are running aground because of waves of new immigrants from the world's disaster zones overloading those systems. If Barack wins (and he'd better!) the capitalist octopus won't change that much; hopefully we won't rush in to war so blindly and the level of oratory will be about a million grades above what we've had for 8 years but the fact of globalization is a done deal, at least until the oil runs out and we all have to learn how to ride horses and grow food again. The JMDL for its part will rely on a massive fleet of carrier pigeons carrying daily posts. I did not know about Hanne Boel's cover of How do You Stop, but I see now that it was in one of Bob's cover - compilations. That should teach me not to skip digests! I will look out for it next time I'm in a record store. You seem to be quite picky so it msut be a pretty good version! The phone call was cut short as you can imagine. She said she lost and old oak tree in the backyard but she sounds good and is fine. Lucky it is not extremely hot down there like it was after Rita because she has no A/C (power). Keep her in your thoughts. Thought I'd share this with you, for what it's worth. I have this one shot of Joni at Banff, taken from the audience the night of the ballet, while she was on stage during the Q&A. It's not a great pic, but you get the general idea. It's the best I could do with my little camera and low light levels. https://www.yousendit.com/download/bVlCSlIvYWJCMTVMWEE9PQ Michael in Quebec _________________________________________________________________ ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 15 Sep 2008 03:02:59 +0000 From: Patti Parlette Subject: 1000 Recordings to Hear Before You Die Read about this book in the newspaper today, so I had just had to check for Joni.
