Only recently discovered the joys of Grooveshark - a legal P2P sharing site where you can listen to full streams of millions of songs for free and buy downloads for $0.99 - http://listen.grooveshark.com The site has most of Joni's songs available - see http://listen.grooveshark.com/index.php?searchQuery=joni (click on song title and then 'play song' button) Just been listening to Joni & James Taylor's wonderful 1970 BBC concert (which you can also buy as a download for $0.99, I see) @ http://listen.grooveshark.com/song/AlbumWrap_Album/7228049 I was interested to hear - in James's introduction to 'California' - that Joni had partially written the song in Ibiza (as well as Paris and LA). Never knew she'd visited Ibiza - anyone know where she stayed and for how long? I have friends who live there so I go quite often. Couldn't find anything in the jmdl library but did a search on the net and found this - http://www.hippy.com/review-153.html >Ibiza was a significant part of the 1960's counter-culture, many travellers on the trail to and from India stopped off here and allegedly took part in wild moonlit orgies on remote beaches in the north of the island, and Joni Mitchell and Bob Dylan allegedly visited during that era (it has been said that at least one of the songs on Joni Mitchell's "Blue" was written on Ibiza) > best to all PaulC ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 31 Jul 2008 09:46:34 -0400 From: "Richard Flynn" Subject: Knwoledgeable Tour Guide http://www.nytimes.com/2008/07/31/nyregion/31staten.html?_r=1 &emc=tnt&tntemail0=y&oref=slogin A story about the Staten Island Ferry in today's NY TIMES has a Joni mention. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 31 Jul 2008 10:31:46 -0400 From: Jerry Notaro Subject: Re: Grooveshark Joni in Ibiza? Grooveshark certainly has no rights to distribute this Joni Mitchell bootleg and no one should pay money for unofficial Joni Mitchell recordings. Despite their claims to being legal, Grooveshark is not licensed to sell downloads of official JM, as they do not have a licensing agreement with Warner Bros/Reprise, Elektra/Asylum, Nonesuch. Indeed it looks like they do not really have such an agreement with any of the major labels: http://www.grooveshark.com/labels-list So if you pay for official Joni Mitchell, as you should, you should buy the music from a reputable dealer in order for some royalty pennies to reach Joni's bank account. And if you want unofficial, you should trade for it, but NEVER buy or sell it. - -----Original Message----- From: owner-joni@smoe.org [mailto:owner-joni@smoe.org] On Behalf Of studio16a Sent: Thursday, July 31, 2008 8:24 AM To: joni@smoe.org Subject: Grooveshark Joni in Ibiza?
