The idea of the song as a duet between Joni and the piano appeals to me. I think, like Monika, River and ACOY stand out for me. I also like Cactus Tree, Down To You & NRH. I think the orchestral BSN might also do it for me. It has been interesting to see so much variety in the songs we think are beautiful. I foundi t very hard to think of which Joni songs are beautiful. Was i thinking of lyrics, music, both? A friend had asked me to make a diplaylist of songs i considered to be beautiful. One night I came home (it was very late when I walked in) wearing that treasure of a coat and my father was still up. He did not think I looked like a movie queen. He FLIPPPED OUT when he saw me in that coat. "What are doing wearing Tootsie's coat? With dirty blue jeans? Take that off RIGHT THIS MINUTE!" I whined: "Whaaaaat? I like it!" I took off the coat and I was never allowed to wear it again. (My dad was such a jerk when I was in high school! Amazing how he later turned into such a wonderful man.) Another one of Tootsie's (yes, that's what we called her) coats (another second-hand one) I *was* allowed to wear over and over again was another beauty. Long, calf-length ruby-colored wool, trimmed with antique luxury at the collar with beaver fur. It stood out like a ruby. It had the big shoulder pads and long length that Trina didn't want to touch, and I agree with her. It was gorgeous!
