I know you'll get a laught out of this one. The dream started as I was on my way to work (even though I'm retired now) and listening to my usual radio station (WFUV). Herbie Hancock was the "guest DJ" and said Joni's sister was at the station to surprise Joni, who was on her way to the studio, and they were going to sing a duet together. In the dream, Joni's sister's name was Muriel. After they sang the song, I was so excited, I tried to type my story in to let everyone on the JMDL know about it but whatever computer I was on wasn't sending the story in. So, I called someone on the list and told them the story. When they asked me what song Joni and her "sister" sang, I couldn't remember the name and said, "you know, that new one off Shine, the first one on the album." (The first one on Shine is an instrumental, of course.) Then, on my way home from "work", I found myself in the back of a big Chevy van, with Joni and her sister. Herbie was driving, and there were no seats in the back of the van, so we were sitting on the floor with our backs against the inside wall of the van and a blanket covering us from our waists to our feet (I guess it was cold?). Joni was on my right, and her sister was on Joni's right. We were all talking like we were best friends when I turned to my right and softly kissed Joni on her left cheek, then her neck. As I did this, Joni suddenly leaned forward, shouting, "Look, look! It's a puffer fish." As I turned to look, I saw a puffer fish jumping around on top of the blanket. It seemed that Herbie, Joni and her sister had been fishing before they picked me up, and there was a white bucket in the back of the van, with some fishing poles and such. The fish had gotten loose and, as we started to try and catch the fish, I woke up. I know, it's a weird one, but that's how it was. This is one of about a half-dozen Joni-related dreams I've had over the years. The last two were about JoniFests and Joni attended the fest in my last dream before this one, about a year ago. It's 6 AM... I'm going to try and go back to sleep. Maybe there'll be a sequel. Kenny B ************** Ideas to please picky eaters. Watch video on AOL Living. The name was probably in my head since I recently finished researching my family tree and I had a cousin named Muriel. (After I awoke from the dream, I thought I dreamed that name because I thought Joni's mother's name was Muriel). Kenny B ************** Ideas to please picky eaters. Watch video on AOL Living. Our local singer-songwriter radio station is still playing it daily. In fact, Niki the music director, often lets "One Week Last Summer" segue right into "This Place". I can't remember Niki ever playing 2 songs back-to-back from an album except when she's introducing a new album. I know it's not because I sent over pizza when "Shine" and "River" were new. I think it's because "Shine" is the best work Joni's done in while. That's high praise and the reason I believe "Shine" will endure. Jim L. Monika asked, > This is purely speculation but do you think Shine will last and be thought of very fondly 20 years+ down the road? An essential in Joni's catalog or something someone can take or leave in the future?> ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 25 Feb 2008 22:48:51 EST From: PassScribe@aol.com Subject: Re: Stills on Joni's "Carey" > rom: David Eoll > Subject: Re: meanderings, was: salutations > > Most notable, to me, is his accompaniment on guitar on Carey.
