That is roughly how many fast growing new trees and bamboos it would require to offset the 8 billion metric tons of CO2 we humans dump into our lovely sky every year. I still need lots of help with the math but I figure in my mind that, since one redwood converts 50 pounds of carbon into oxygen every year, it would require 40 redwoods to remove one ton of carbon from the atmosphere every year. So, still in my mind, it would require about one trillion redwoods to offset our carbon output. Taking it one step further, each of us 6.6 billion humans on earth today would have to plant about 200 redwoods to offset global warming. Interesting that redwoods (Sequoia) were the predominant trees on every continent at the time dinosaurs were made extinct by an asteroid striking earth millions of years ago! Last time by a random strike. This time by our own hand. I've planted over 100 trees in my lifetime. Pondering this massive mess we're in, I vow to plant 100 trees every year for the rest of my life. We've GOT to get ourselves back to the garden! Did I? Or did I e-mail Mark? I too have a Richard story. The incredible gift that Joni continually gives me is her brilliance at working through something painful in her life...and also the joys. But then I think, wow...with her talent comes the gift of working through the challenges that life brings us all...I think she can come to closure more easily than someone who can't express themselves with any kind of creativity. Maybe I'm way off base here...I don't know. Joni has shared so much from her life and as each of us interprets her lyrics and then relates them to our lives, we have a vehicle to come to some type of closure...or to accept that there's no type of closure available...you just have to deal with whatever is happening in our lives. Just some thoughts...now..I'm back to my addiction: "Shine". Love from Bo - --------------------------------- Be a better sports nut! Let your teams follow you with Yahoo Mobile. It was very strange when I first heard that one but it's cool in context of the band she had at the time. She performed "Jericho" in Oklahoma City in '79 but I don't think she liked the arrangement with the Metheny-Jaco band because I don't think she performed it again on that historic tour. Could be wrong on that. She did play Jericho at the "Save The Whales" benefit in '76. Then again, you could say that "Jericho" was a MOA song since that's when she first released it. You're right, that album was not really integrated much into her live shows.
