Since anything I can say Joni has said better, I need your help! A really good friend of mine is moving from Cleveland, OH to Atlanta, GA tomorrow. Since I am horrible at goodbyes (the last thing I told him yesterday when we hung out was, "take it easy" lol) I thought I'd send him some Joni lyrics along with a "farewell." I need something with the vibe of "g'bye, good luck, have fun, you were a good friend, it's drag you're gone but good for you, I'll miss you, etc etc." Mind you, I was not romantically involved with him. He was just a really good, dependable friend. Any suggestions? -Monika "We all come and go unknown..." Tired of spam? Yahoo! Zenith to nadir and back Hi Dave. The nightly news reports here have said that the fires reach as far south as San Diego but I didn't think about Fallbrook. I should have now that I know where it is. I'm so glad your property escaped the worst of it. They say that the weather has eased now so the critical period is over for now. This part of Australia is very similar to southern California and we face this every Spring/Summer. Make sure there is no fuel lying around and clear out your gutters. That's what they always tell people living in outlying bushland around Sydney. What a wonderful time you must have had with Tommy Emmanuel. This guy is all over the place. A very busy man. One minute he's on the talk shows here, the next he's in California. He is the highest selling instrumentalist in Australia. He is one of the most respected musicians too. He and his brother Phil are music icons in this country. He did a very popular album with Chet Atkins. Tommy has won just about every award possible for a musician in Australia. An amazing talent. I believe he grew up in a small country town somewhere. He looks like a very centred, friendly person. I'd love to meet him. He has such a passion for guitar too. It's interesting that doesn't usually record albums with guest vocalists. I would love to hear him play with Joni. He could do some amazing things with some of her guitar based songs. I have never heard him do a Joni song. Do you know if he has ever recorded a Joni song? I hope you and Robyn are well and safe. Mark in Sydney ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 26 Oct 2007 02:03:25 -0400 From: "Eric Taylor" Subject: My Secret Place Last January the song My Secret Place became stuck in my head and I was hearing it every day for most of the year. It was never one of my favorite Joni tunes but now it is. One night last summer I told a friend that I was getting a little concerned about this and he said that I should just be grateful it wasn't a song I didn't like. When I got into my car to drive home My Secret Place immediately began playing on the radio (WYEP). That is when I realized the Great Spirit was trying to tell me something. The line that particularly speaks to me is: "It's a place where no amount of hurt or anger can deface." I had never learned the lyrics to this song in the 20 years I've been listening to it. We all need our secret place to escape the insanity of humanity. My secret place is nine acres of wilderness I own on the Rio Grande in Colorado which I haven't visited since 2000. I REALLY need to get back there and soon! This world is making me way too sad and mad. ET "You see those lovely hills? They won't be there for long. They're gonna tear them down and sell them to California... When this place is a moonscape don't say I didn't warn ya!" ~Joni Mitchell, "This Place" SHINE 2007 ------------------------------ End of onlyJMDL Digest V2007 #339 ********************************* ------- Post messages to the list by clicking here: mailto:joni@smoe.org Unsubscribe by clicking here: mailto:onlyjoni-digest-request@smoe.org?body=unsubscribe ------- Siquomb, isn't she?
