I get the feeling by looking at the picture on the page of the girl in the cd booklet that it is Joni standing there in her dancing attire. As soon as I heard this I got this eerie feeling of what all she could have meant by that line. And, I just wondered why she chose that picture to put in the booklet. I feel very strongly on this one. Does anyone else agree? << Absolutely! This a reoccurring theme in many of my fave Joni songs. May I say that it is SO good to hear from ye Joni lovers coming back to chime in on SHINE?! So where is Julie Z when you really need her? ;~D Seriously. The JMDL seems a lot friendlier than it did in the days of TTT, BSN and Travelogue (when too many of the die-hard Joni lovers jumped ship). And thank you Kakki for reminding us to be concerned for millions of people in southern California suffering the consequences of severe global warming. An odd thing happened today. I hardly ever remember my dreams and I never got into dream analysis either but I distinctly remember not one but two dreams I had last night. They are still so vivid in my memory. One had to do with my Nursing career but the other was that Joni's second CD for Hear Music/Starbucks was released. I was holding it in my hand in a store. It turns out that it is an EP not a full album. About 5 tracks or so. One track is a reworking of one of the Shine tracks. I think it was This Place. There are also some new tracks on it, possibly from the Shine recording sessions. The cover was a close up of Joni's face, possibly a painting. Yes, I think it was a painting. Like the self portraits on other album covers but without the frame. It's almost like the portrait on Clouds but present day face. Kind of earth tone colours with her wheat coloured hair, on a sunny day. I know, this all sounds very specific but I've never had a dream so clear before. Very weird. The other dream, for those who are interested was also very detailed. For some reason, I was in a nursing home (possibly for a job interview) but there were hardly any staff around and I was horrified by the condition of the place. There were old people in their beds with gaping ulcers and poorly dressed broken limbs. There was only one poorly trained Nurse (male) tending to one patient with an ulcer and doing a bad job of dressing it. I couldn't just stand there and do nothing so, I jumped in to help. He had no idea of how to dress the wound so I asked for some clean bandages and pads and sterile water. Then I was distracted by all the other patients in severe discomfort so, I went off to try to help them. That was it. That was the dream. Two very detailed dreams in one night. I still can see the cover of Joni's EP. I didn't catch the title of the CD though. Legal CDs are priced at 70.000 rupiahs (slightly less than $8). While the pirated CDs are priced at Rp.5000 (about 60 US cents). And if you buy 10, you get 1 for free. MP3s are crazier. A CD of MP3s (thats 14 albums) priced at Rp.5000 DVDs? Same. The demand for pirated CDs is huge. Local pirates cannot supply all the demand. I was out there in the summer with the kids and was going to go to the resort formerly known as Lord Jim's where Joni apparently stayed while having her BC home built. However, we had been on Vancouver Island and it was going to take two ferries to get there (one to get back to the mainland and a shorter one to get to that part of the Sunshine coast) and we could only book one night at the resort and I figured that it would take us a good six hours to get there from Vancouver Island where we were and then we were flying home next day from Vancouver and the whole point of going to a resort is to relax, and that sounded very unrelaxing - by the time we'd get there, it would be time to go to sleep and then we'd need to get up earliesh the next day, so I cancelled out on it. Like you, will save this for another time. I think I am in love with BC, not so much Vancouver because it's too busy, congested and expensive, but the Island and I think the Sunshine Coast is much like Vancouver Island. Who can resist mountains and ocean? Not me. It's really like being in paradise. Joni won't be there. Voila: By Bjoern H. Amland, Associated Press Writer OSLO Melissa Etheridge, Alicia Keys and Annie Lennox are among the artists who will perform at the annual Nobel Peace Prize Concert in Norway, organizers said Thursday. The Dec. 11 concert will also feature performances by Earth Wind & Fire, Colombian singer Juanes and Scottish singer-songwriter KT Tunstall, organizers told The Associated Press. This year's Nobel Peace Prize went to former Vice President Al Gore and the U.N.'s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change for their efforts to help spread awareness about man-made global warming. Organizers said Gore invited Etheridge to perform at the concert, which is held a day after the award ceremony in Oslo. Each year, peace laureates are given the opportunity to invite one artist of their choice. Etheridge won an Academy Award this year for the song I Need To Wake Up, which featured in Gore's environmental documentary An Inconvenient Truth. The American singer recently released her ninth studio album, The Awakening. Lennox, a former member of British pop group Eurythmics, will release her fourth solo album, Songs of Mass Destruction, this month, while Keys, a nine-time Grammy Award-winning Soul and R&B star, is due to release her third studio album, As I Am, on Nov. 13. "The Nobel Committee is pleased to welcome such a talented and eclectic group of artists for this momentous occasion," said Geir Lundestad, secretary of the Norwegian Nobel Committee.
