My first impression was that the blue strip was indeed one of those temporary/removable things. I certainly hope so. The cover art is lovely without that although, I would have preferred some more of Joni's art. Even one of her photo manipulations from her recent exhibition would have worked for me, since there is a war theme in some of the songs. My 2 cents. Thought i'd pass it on to the loyal. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 8 Aug 2007 05:50:07 EDT From: FMYFL@aol.com Subject: Re: the going rate????! damn, she signed my book "Happy Birthday Jimmy, Joni Mitchell", then 4 months later, my puppy chewed on the edge of the book. it's not worth squat now. still, $4999 for a 1st edition Mendel art gallery book? PHHTTT! I'd rather bid the $30,000 for Tony Soprano's SUV that's supposed to be on ebay. First of all, on the top bit I find the way their fingers strut very theatrical, but moreover, as Debra said, it looks odd with those little legs sticking out on the bottom, as if they all had four sets of little dog's legs. Are they kentaurs? Dogtaurs? It's one of those images, once you've got it into your head it is hard to get rid of, like a bad melody. That's my sour take. On a sunny day, and I just had a good friend for coffee, so it's not that I am in a bad mood at all! We'll see what awaits us after the ribbon-cutting. It's okay by me, because it's still our Joni, the one we know and love dearly, inside all of the packaging. The seller previously sold a Tascam PortaStudio 4424 MkII http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160142587918 which the seller described as "NEVER USED AT ALL WORKING 1000 %". Maybe the "zero" key sticks? They sold the Tascam for $120 which shows that Joni's book is worth 41.6 times more than a complete studio. Riiiight. My favorite part about the auction for the book http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160145333791 is this: If someone pays him $4,999.00 or more for the book, he figures they should also pay $20 for shipping.
