I'm very curious. > > Thanks! > Monika here's a short description from The Internet Movie Database: ALL WE ARE SAYING is a compelling, personal look at what makes musicians tick. Rosanna Arquette follows up her critically acclaimed documentary directorial debut, Searching for Debra Winger, with a look into the psyches of some of the top musical artists of the day. Through a series of intimate conversations, over fifty musical legends, hot new artists and music industry insiders reveal what inspires them, their personal struggles of balancing relationships and family while working on the road and the state of the music business in the 21st Century. Presented as an ongoing, casual conversation, the film offers a unique insight into the artists most candid and personal thoughts. http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0458314/ Joni was interviewed by Rosanna Arquette, at home in Los Angeles, on May 3, 2004. the film was featured at the Tribeca Film Festival in April 2005 and was first broadcast on the Showtime cable channel on March 8, 2006. here's the description from the Tribeca Film Festival WebSite: ALL WE ARE SAYING Special Screenings U.S.A., 2005, 100 min, Color New York Premiere The overwhelming bevy of underwhelming pop tarts, trite boy bands, toy rockers, and overhyped rappers that have held the music charts hostage over the past few years has inspired actress-turned-filmmaker Rosanna Arquette to confiscate pop music's microphone and return it to some of its greatest songwriters, singers, and musicians so they can wax poetic about the state of music today, how they balance life and art, and their muses in rock 'n' roll. Important artists in nearly every genre, from the 1960s to present day, are represented, including Willie Nelson, Burt Bacharach, Stevie Nicks, Don Henley, Peter Gabriel, Iggy Pop, Sting, Boy George, Annie Lennox, Mary J. Blige, Flea, Sheryl Crow, and Andri 3000. Through a series of interviews set in the warm, intimate confines of these rockers' homes, backstage dressing rooms, and recording studios, Arquette's two-camera chat-fest allows audiences to become a fly on the wall to refreshingly honest, sometimes funny, and mostly thought-provoking conversations. There's David Crosby observing that he finds Britney Spears 'as deep as a birdbath, compared to Joni Mitchell,' while Mitchell herself reveals that she opts out of today's music game because she dislikes the record promotion machine. And then there's punk icon Patti Smith, who gets sweetly tender when discussing the joys of parenting in rock 'n' roll. Unlike most celebrity-driven, puff-piece documentaries, this film is an enjoyably lean tjte-`-tjte-even the few tangents are engrossing. A must-see for all music lovers. http://www.tribecafilmfestival.org/tixSYS/archive/eventnote.php?EventNumber=2 0053101 you'll find additional information on the ALL WE ARE SAYING WebSite at the following URL: http://www.allwearesaying.net/ the WebSite includes a Promo Video Trailer, an interview with Rosanna Arquette originally broadcast on Sirius Satellite Radio as well as her May 10, 2005 appearance on the Tavis Smiley Show. the SHOWTIME rebroadcast schedule can be found at the following URL: http://www.sho.com/site/schedules/product_page.do?seriesid=0&episodeid=126942 perhaps this answers a few questions andmoreagain, - - - - - - - - - - simon ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 9 Jul 2007 16:24:51 EDT From: Motitan@aol.com Subject: Judgement Of The Moon And Stars The other day I was listening to FTR and decided to give this song another listen (also listened to it again eariler today). I haven't listened to this particular track since the first few days of having the album. I decided I didn't like the song at that time. But as it happens to be, every now and again I give songs I don't like by artists I like another chance. Often more than once. I'd say 70% of the time it doesn't work. You give it another listen and you still don't catch the magic. You continue on with your day. Then there's that 30% of the time where you "find" something you didn't get before. Listening to this track now, I can't figure out why it didn't strike me immediately. I can't understand what I didn't like about it then. The piano is very pretty all throughout and Joni is really stretching her "arrangement" skills. My favorite part of the song is the vocal melody with these lyrics: "Or take a walk A park A bridge A tree A river Revoked but not yet cancelled The gift goes on" I just love how she sings this part and the woven yet hasty melody (vocally) that goes with it.
