I have had no reply to my offer for the broadcast of Joni's induction to the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame from the Southern Hemisphere so, I'm throwing it open to the rest of the world. I believe it is PAL but region free. Write to me off list and I will drop it in the mail to you. As with all offers of Joni material, please make a copy and offer it up to the list again. I hope everyone had/is having a lucky 07/07/07. One of the few times of the year when the date is abbreviated the same way in the US and other countries. The number 7 is said to be lucky in many different religions and cultures. Barnaby and I have painstakingly transcribed both pieces. DTY is already up in pdf form at the jmdl.com guitar tabs (!) database and I sent Les Irvin the Blue chart while he was away in Canada recently. He is about to put it up there when he gets back. I understand the legal issues regarding publication you are asking but wanted to let you know that some of us in the trenches have been working on these transcriptions. If you get clearance for such an undertaking I'd highly recommend Barnaby to do the transcriptions as he is meticulous and highly respectful of Joni's music. Nothing exciting. I went to hear that Maiken Ingvordsen, Jazz singer and pianist, at the local library this morning, 11AM, in a concert that is part of the Copenhagen Jazz festival. She was part of a Joni Mitchell tribute concert some years ago, with a very good sax player, Hans Ulrik. I left after the first set, because I was a bit bored and not sure they'd play any other Joni songs that Cherokee Louise which they had already performed. I've got to say, she is gifted, but somehow... Imagine Joni as a coyote and Maiken as a golden retriever. That's not a bad thing to say is it?! In any case, after Cherokee L she declared that she loves Joni - 'so do I!' shouted the bass player - and me too! shouted the saxophonist - and ME! said the drummer. I managed to keep quiet... :-)... Apart from that, all is quiet on the scando front. Bene ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 7 Jul 2007 11:27:16 EDT From: Motitan@aol.com Subject: Re: Want To Book Joni At Your Corporate Event? The hope is winning today! Last night I went down to Akron, OH to see a CSNY tribute band (named "Ohio"). They were fantastic to say the least! They had six members in the band--one playing Crosby (who really looked like him), one loosely playing Stills (loosely because the Crosby one did 75% of the solos/leads), a Nash one, a guy on drums, bass, and keyboard. No Neil one although they did perform some Neil penned songs--Ohio, Cinnamon Girl, Southern Man. They were real tight and had a lot of energy. I went with my sister (who I also dragged along to see the real CSNY last summer) who commented that this tribute band seemed like they liked each other a lot more than the real band, heh. Anyhow, there were two Joni mentions in their set. Right before, "Our House," one of the members mentioned that Graham Nash wrote this song for his "friend" in Laurel Canyon. Later the band performed, "Woodstock" and said, "Joni Mitchell wrote this song." They rocked it hard man! Now more points for the hope I've witnessed 22 years........I just landed my first radio job! Only took me 42 years to do so but so be it! It's only part time/fill in (very few hours) but the experience is what really counts. Once you're "in" you are "one of them" and the only way to go is up. They promote within always. That is the good thing about radio. There's a hell of a lot of room for promotion. - -Monika NP: 49 Bye Byes-CSN ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 7 Jul 2007 12:22:35 EDT From: Motitan@aol.com Subject: Joni and Crosby? As far as Crosby's first solo album goes, what are the songs Joni sings backup/harmony on? I know she sings on "Laughing" (which I have a recording of) but what is the other one? I am ordering this album from the library since it does get some acclaim. The library doesn't have it yet but I put my order in for it as they are getting copies of this album in their system. Also, how is the song "Yvette in English" penned by Joni and Crosby? What are your thoughts on it? I know Crosby had said he had always wanted to write a song with Joni. - -Monika P.S. I also ordered "Songs for Beginners" by Nash to show my love for Nash...he's the underdog of CSN/Y. I always like the underdog.... ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 7 Jul 2007 19:03:39 +0200 From: missblux@googlemail.com Subject: Re: Cherokee Louise on CPH jazz festival Sometimes I'm reluctant to bond... Haw haw, that's great, Randy...let's go ahead and book her for the next Jonifest. I'll chip in a buck or two. Or you could book her for a wedding, I see - today's the day 07/07/07, probably a wedding in every church in town, even here in Greenville where you can't toss a stone without hitting one. I read that Florists, caterers, planners, etc. stopped taking orders months ago because they were all already overbooked. He still looks real cute and hasn't aged hardly at all, other than whiter hair and beard. He was my favorite male singer when he came out with, 'Foreigner.' He reminded of Joni in many ways. jeannie Laurent Olszer wrote: Hi, Just watched a bunch of Joni related videos on You Tube.
