We do read. So many of us have used Joni's music as a catharsis. Many of us here suffer as you do. Through the years, we've tried to be there for each other. It seems to be a cycle of support for one another. When one person is able to see clearly, they turn around and help someone else lost in the fog. That's how it goes. We understand which is what we have in common. Joni's music is so beautiful, her lyrics so honest, it's like a catharsis for all the "lostness" we feel. One part of a song of Joni's that always helps me put things in perspective is from Heijira: "There's comfort in melancholy When there's no need to explain It's just as natural as the weather In these moody skies today...." We all have one song of hers that speaks directly to our hearts. We all understand. Just let these emotions wash over you like water. Don't drink them in...just let them wash you. As you look up, you will see the sun peeking through the clouds and it will feel warm on your face. You will feel again dear Bo. Don't drink these bitter waters. Just let them wash you clean as you hold on to us... Love, Sherelle Bo wrote: Hey... I've always said that death brings out the best or the worst in people, that is certain. I am appalled just reading his story. I'm sure he would be very upset. You make a good point. On the positive side, I am happy that you have finally sold your house and that you are in order to make your move to Seattle. I'm sure it is very stressful trying to put things together but hold on and keep your head up. I mentioned Heijira in a previous post and it seems to me you are living this song out right now. As you "ravel in some vehicle", think of your life as an adventure that Joni would be writing a song about. It's a new chapter in your life and I send you my love and best wishes. Love, Sherelle Cassy wrote: It must have been something in the air last week. On Monday a friend was rear-ended by a woman who was suffering a stroke. He was stopped at a red light and she hit him at about 50 miles an hour, never touched her brakes. He injured his back and neck. Tuesday I got the word that I had sold my house (three months on the market much better than the current average 10-15 mos. in MI) Wednesday one of my very closest friends was killed in a motorcycle accident - he was hit by a garbage truck running a late yellow as he made a right turn on red. His family locked his girlfriend of 7 years out of the house, they had the locks changed the day he died. The day of his funeral a dumpster was delivered to his home and they began pitching his things... they lost a ton of money by doing this; he had every copy of Playboy magazine from 1960-2007 and they just tossed them... threw away a bolt of fabric in his garage - he'd just paid almost $1,000 for it to re-upholster the interior of his 1968 Galaxy. It's appalling, he'd be livid at what's going on. The lesson here is that we don't have as much time as we think we do... make provisions for your loved ones... in writing. Death makes even good people do bad things sometimes. Now I am in the midst of sweating the final closing on the house, moving my son to his father's, having a moving sale, final packing, renting a truck, soliciting helpers and driving to Seattle with my Jeep in tow. So much to do. Music is my salvation and my respite. They had him on the phone from Prague, and he mentioned he was given the Joni Mitchell Suite at his hotel. It seemed fitting as he is from Canada. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 23 Jun 2007 12:48:34 EDT From: Motitan@aol.com Subject: Re: Subject: Q about Dog eat dog single and CS&N In a message dated 6/23/2007 9:35:53 AM Eastern Daylight Time, jlamadoo@sbcglobal.net writes: The 2 classics are "Deja Vu" and "Crosby, Stills and Nash". That one is excellent as well and it gives you a glimpse into each member's solo work. I wouldn't recommend any "greatest of" or "hits" (unless it's a huge box set which you wouldn't get to start off with) as they don't have all that much material together anyway. Very few compared to what it could have been. You'll get what you need from those studio albums! - -Monika P.S. Verse 3 of Guinnivere (written by Crosby) off "Crosby, Stills, & Nash" is also about Joni. The two other verse are about two different women, heh. ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 23 Jun 2007 12:51:39 EDT From: Motitan@aol.com Subject: Joni/Woodstock/CSN I'm sure some of you already know this but for those who don't Joni appears in Crosby, Stills, & Nash's video, "Long Time Comin'." It's just a bunch of clips from various performances throughout their career as well as some interviews (and a couple of random clips of the band including one which I find amusing where Stephen Stills goes up to David Crosby ending off by saying, "you fucking hypocrite, you piss me off!" and storms off...I find it amusing because Crosby looks stoned out of mind, is just laying in a hammock, looks peaceful as can be...and he doesn't even respond to Stephen....). Anyway, more towards the beginning, "Woodstock" is playing in the background and Joni briefly talks about the festival/song. She makes a very short appearance. - -Monika P.S. There's also Stephen Stills' performance of 4+20 from the Dick Cavett Show in which Joni is sitting by him... ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 23 Jun 2007 22:24:16 -0400 From: "Jim L'Hommedieu" Subject: Note to Joni >Joni, thank you for your work.
