True, and it's also different when you HEAR her in an interview as opposed to SEEING the conversation in print. Just like emails, when you remove the inflections, tones and (in Joni's case particularly) laughter, a statement can look drastically different than it sounds. One of our own, Mark in Sydney, has just revealed to me in our email correspondence that he is in dire financial straits after losing his job several months ago. His house and car are in real danger of repossession in a couple of weeks and we can probably all imagine the hardship that would be for any of us. I have recently been asking him to do some design work for me as he is a first rate graphic designer (though not yet officially in a professional capacity). He has done two CD covers, a business card. a logo and a poster for our upcoming "Joni" concert. All of them have been beautiful, creative and pro in every way. You already have seen his Joni wallpapers. My request is this: if you have any graphic design needs-- invitations, business cards, logos, CD artwork, brochures etc-- please contact Mark first (mark-leon@iinet.net.au) about doing the work. It can all be done electronically so geographical proximity is irrelevant. He would never make this request himself as he is too modest about his talents but I want to personally endorse his excellent work and see him get on his feet again. I left off NJC in order to reach the most people possible; not proper form I realize... thank you all Dave Blackburn p.s our next big all-Joni concert is July 21st in Fallbrook, CA, between San Diego, Riverside and L.A if anyone could see their way to coming down for the show as guests of honor! We have some new surprises including a choral arrangement of Shadows and Light... ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 31 May 2007 12:47:59 -0400 From: "Marianne Rizzo" Subject: [none] once in a while. . . in a big blue moon . . . there comes a night like this. . . _________________________________________________________________ More photos, more messages, more storageget 2GB with Windows Live Hotmail. http://imagine-windowslive.com/hotmail/?locale=en-us&ocid=TXT_TAGHM_migration_HM_mini_2G_0507 ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 31 May 2007 19:30:04 +0200 From: "Laurent Olszer" Subject: Joni dislikes C&S? I'm not an expert, but I think it's a really good album, with Joni in fine form... not quite as inspired as "blue" maybe, but still way up there in terms of quality, inspiration, confidence, vocal quality etc... _________________________________________________________________ PC Magazines 2007 editors choice for best Web mailaward-winning Windows Live Hotmail. http://imagine-windowslive.com/hotmail/?locale=en-us&ocid=TXT_TAGHM_migration_HM_mini_pcmag_0507 ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 31 May 2007 12:02:55 -0700 From: "Randy Remote" Subject: Re: Have you seen this? Although I gave my permission to Dave Blackburn to reveal my situation to the list, I find now that I am highly embarrassed for so many people to know my financial circumstances. I'm very sorry that this is not Joni related. I'm a bit of a stickler for Joni content and am on the Joni-only digest. I kind of regret giving my permission now but very much appreciate Dave's kindness and concern. The situation may not be as dire as it has been now. I have had difficulty in getting back into work for about 6 months now which, is ironic with the government constantly patting itself on the back because of the lowest unemployment rate in 80 years or something (now at about 5% nationally). I am applying for an early release of my superannuation. They tell me that I am eligible. This should take care of the immediate problems. Of course, I would love any paid graphic design work that comes my way. I am not qualified and have just taught myself the software. The rest is just purely my imagination. Dave has given me my first ever paid graphic design work for the poster for his upcoming show. I urge anyone who can get to Fallbrook, California to go see this show. I only wish I could. A trip to California seems like a lifetime away but a little piece of me will be there - my artwork. I wish him and his beautiful wife the best. There was just a Joni question on Jeopardy! (Unless I dreamt it in a JMOCDed fog which is entirely possible.) I forget the category (I was only half paying attention, reading the newspaper), but the question was: "Chelsea Clinton was named after this song written by Joni Mitchell." Nobody buzzed in. Nobody knew. What dummies!!!!! Sheesh! SPOILER ALERT: If you want to watch the show later and don't want to know who won, close your eyes and scroll down. (You can close your eyes, it's all right.) I was glad to see the long-haired guy win. The champion had won enough games, imo. Love, Patti P, going to run outside because there is a lightning storm and of course I have to shake my fists. Sure i mean no disrespect to C&S. It's like saying for instance that the Beatles might be more proud of an experimental song such as Number 9 than say She Loves You. The majority of fans would probably prefer Lennon's Imagine over "Two Virgins" but it's what the artist thinks of his/her work that we're talking about here. But you did beat me to posting it up here. I signed on and first thing I thought was, "better tell the list about the Joni Jeopardy question!" Ok, so none of the contestants did get it! I was wondering because after the question came up, I immediately yelled out "What is Chelsea Morning?!" And then I looked at my sister (who rolled her eyes) cockily and said "I just scored $2,000, oooh I knew that! Look who could be on Jeopardy!" So in the midst of my cockiness and excitement I didn't even see if anyone answered it! - -Monika ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 31 May 2007 21:50:22 EDT From: Motitan@aol.com Subject: Re: Shadows & Light and Misses What does the Shadows & Light insert look like?
