What a shame that Joni's own website doesn't have a proper discography. Shame on us. Truth be told, I threw out my little tidbit hoping that people would come up with better & more complete info so thanks to you & Gary. And assuming its true, it's interesting to note that Joni released BOTH versions of Jericho on 45's. She obviously holds the song in high regard - as well she should. Notaro" Subject: People Magazine Compilation of the Week: A Tribute to Joni Mitchell You know you are major when you can get Prince to bow down before you. It's a testament to the influence and importance of Mitchell that she is also worshipped by the likes of Sarah McLachlan, Annie Lennor, Bjork, Elvis Costello, and James Taylor, all of whom appear on this classy salute. Clearly, they could drink a case of Joni and they's still be on their feet. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 16 May 2007 16:18:51 -0700 (PDT) From: "Lama \(Jim L*Hommedieu\)" Subject: Re: Joni's lyrics Joni Mitchell said, > Willy is my child. > He is my father. If you like sad songs, (and I do), I recommend Roseanne Cash'es "Black Cadillac". The title has several meanings to me. Johnny Cash is associated with "black" of course and he drove a black Cadillac for a while. It was also the car at his funeral. And the funeral of her mum, and one other family member, all in a 2 year period. There's a lot of introspection on this album. Both of my parents are on a slide so it's oddly comforting. The songwriting is all first-rate. Some of these lines strike me as relative (ha!) to Joni's "Willy": > I love you like a brother, > a father, > and a son. > It may not last forever, > but it will never be done. > My whole world fits inside the moment > I saw you re-born. > God is in the roses, > and that day was filled with roses. > God is in the roses > and the thorns. How's that for a punch in the solar plexus? There's much more on this album, including a wisely edited collection of photos. Some songs even sound like punchy pop songs and Jonn Leventhal is on about 1/2 of the tracks. It ain't music for driving or jogging; but it's great for the living room or on headphones at work. And when I say cover, I mean THE cover story? Not just a small pic in the corner of the magazine or her name somewhere on the cover or anything like that. - -Monika ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 16 May 2007 18:30:27 -0700 (PDT) From: Bob Muller Subject: Re: Joni in magazines Plenty - Rolling Stone (twice) and lots more.
