It was sung on the soundtrack of the movie, Grace of My Heart by Kristen Vigard apparently only after a deal for Joni's version fell through. A better version of this song is by Laurent Cugny. IMO it is one of the best covers of a Joni song. Laurent sings this song with real feeling and gives it a torch song quality. My feelings of TTT are mixed as well. I find Lead Balloon jarring to my ears. Harlem In Havana is fun but Stay In Touch is is classic Joni to me. I do enjoy the instrumental interludes Joni sometimes adds and Tiger Bones fits for me. I added Brian Blade's, Sreadfast to my TTT iTunes playlist because Joni contributed vocals and it was recorded just after TTT I believe although, quite different in style. Another interesting cover was Danilo's cover of No Apologies. The only cover of this song in existence I believe. Bob, correct me if I'm wrong. Joni's contribution absolutely makes the song, which is probably the most ambitious piece of music Fogelberg ever created, extra special. I saw "The Innocent Age" on CD recently, and was almost tempted to buy it. Almost.... There is also a great duet with Emmylou Harris on the album as well. However, it brings to mind something that happens with many artists as they mature (in years and ability). Many musicians, poets, painters and other creative types find a sort of artistic profundity through simplicity. The lyrics on TTT are not the same poetic lyrics we find on earlier albums. However, the songs are melodically and harmonically rich in ways that stand up nicely against any other Joni composition. However, the same can be said for some of Laura Nyro's later work, which (in my humble opinion) doesn't lyrically always reach the lofty heights of her earlier material. However, I do not think she (or Joni) conceive of the creative process in such a competetive, comparative way. So, I try to take each new song and album on its own terms, as much as that is possible, and assemble my own sense of enjoyment from the delightful arabesques an artists makes throughout her career. Over the years, I've become enamored of "Stay in Touch," a song I despised when I first bought the album, and "Man From Mars" is sublime. I could go on and on, but I enjoy each track on this album now, about 10 years after I first bought it, every bit as much as I enjoy those on Blue, Hejira and Dog Eat Dog. There's my two cents. Miss you all from the Jonifest! I'm still feeling inspired and love reading the list more than ever. Just a few thoughts on Taming the Tiger. Yes it's not Joni's best but it has a soothing exploratory sense that I quite enjoy. The one song that really gets to me is "No Apologies." It just plain old makes me so sad, such a tragic occurrence. I remember when the rape happened and not wanting to start a political debate, just will say it made me sick. I'm actually going to Kyoto, Japan (one of my great dreams) next month so that song will be in my heart as I travel around. Love Puts on a New Face is also quite lovely and lyrical and I guess cause I'm Irish ("must be the Irish blood"), I find myself humming, if that's possible, Lead Balloon sometimes when I'm pissed off! I think this album was Joni being able to accept and embrace her middle age and not so invested in making each song so profound. P.S. I love cats so even though "nice kitty kitty" might qualify in the dumb lyric category, it doesn't bother me since cats are gods. I also love her cat paintings. One more reason, I like Joni is she obviously likes cats! So there you have it. I was surprised how much I enjoyed Song for Sharon as it such a long poem yet there is little fat. I was also bowled over by the tight writing of Strange Boy - hardly a breath wasted. The title track is (of course) superb. I was, however, slightly disappointed with Coyote which has always been a favourite of mine - - I found it somewhat incomplete/unfinished - something I had always felt about Refuge for the Roads. Amelia is beautiful, Black Crow rocks and Furry has its merits. Listening to BMR I think it was more the style of the song that put me off. It is certainly not vintage Joni but perhaps should come out of my doghouse although the line "boom boom pachyderm" does belong there! Is it the only where she mentions her own name?
