He's near Ft. Sam Houston at BAMC with all of our poor true patriots who have been burned, some beyond recognition because this administration traded the fiddles for their damned war drums and humvees with no armor and little boys and girls fighting for something they know nothing of. How long can this be the way it is? I love John Mellencamp, too, in the way he loves to be loved..real simple and close to the earth. When I was on his mailing list, I soon came to realize that many women participants are extremely possesive of him. I had AOL at the time and had that IM thing or buddy system stuff and the minute I would sign on, these jealous women were just waiting and they would attack me, off the mailing list and follow me around everywhere I went on the Internet. I didn't know what was going on for the longest time until my son blocked me from that buddy system to prevent them from hassling me. Then they would blurt it out on the mailing list and it was very bothersome, especially for the men and me. The guys were my only buddies! Alot of those girls don't really seem to get to the core of what he means. Believe me, John Mellencamp has a whole lot more in his soul than what initially meets the mind's eye. Norma Jean PS The fans an artist has, are indicative of the artist. As far as John Mellencamp is concerned, I understood the women's jealousy when they would strike out, simply out of fear that their feathers were being ruffled and they don't like any one else to eneter into their possessive coupling roles..it makes everything become stagnant and old and cold and bitter in their ways. Really it is all the same story we have all heard before - it's like the talking book version of Karen O'Brien's biography of Joni, ellegantly and articulately narrated by O'Brien, who clearly adores Joni. It was nice to hear her lovely Australian lilt. Other testimonials in the show I liked included reminiscences from a childhood friend of Joni's who is now an orgainst in Calgary, early days with Murray McLaughlin, and a very flattering testimomial from Issa (formerly Jane Siberry). I wouldn't be surprised if CBC offers it up as a podcast. If you get desperate, drop me a line, and I'll send you a tape copy (2, 1hr cassettes).
