["Lance A. Michel" ] Re: The Night Before Christmas ["Sherelle Smith" Subject: RE: The Twelve Weeks OF Christmas MUSIC SHARING PROJECT & G-D Rest Ye Brother James.... Howdy Folks, I do hope you all are doing Well this Holly-Daze Season... I have been preparing to send up this offer to the list all week, and it now being Christmas Day, and with the passing of 'The Hardest Working Man in Show Business", 'THE Godfather" himself; I feel today is appropriate... That being said...I would like to dedicate this offer to Brother James; and to keeping the flame alive... OFFER: Once a week for the next Twelve weeks I will be offering up a different set of music to the list...The first 5 folks who respond will be accepted; and my hope is that this will also inspire those folks, and perhaps others, to keep passing this music, and more, along...Like I said, Keep the Fire alive, Keep the music vibrant and alive through sharing... "Play it Forward"...:-) **This Week's Offer: Sly & The Family Stone September 10, 1970 VPRO radio session [live no audience] Piknik Kasteel Groeneveld Baarn Amsterdam, Holland From 1971 rebroadcast: off-air reel source with splices from an alternate source. CD: 31:26 1- Thank You 5:45 2- > M'Lady 4:46 3- Sing a Simple Song 5:33 4- Stand! 5:23 5- > Dance To The Music 4:55 5- > Music Lover 1:44 6- I Want to Take You Higher [reprise] [cuts] 3:16 This is a fixed version of what was recently seeded, which has serious digital dropouts for some of tracks 3 and 4 - now cleaned up by splicing in sections from an alternate source of similar sound quality. The show has also been normalized which improved it all a lot to my ears (listen on headphones if you have any doubts). No lineage info on the alternate source but it's from the shorter rebroadcast and is low gen. I'm hazy on exactly what "Piknik Kasteel Groeneveld Baarn" means as to the venue, place and radio show but I've had this previously listed as Baary, Holland "Piknik Show" VPRO session. I've also seen it listed as 9-2-70, so 9-10-70 might have been the original broadcast date with the info I had being for the recording date. Any clarifications will be appreciated. Lineage: 1971 VPRO FM broadcast>Revox Reel2Reel-deck>WAV>FLAC Pristine Stereo Soundboard AND.... Stevie Wonder 03.04.73 Berkeley Community Theater Berkeley, CA Disc 1 1. Source: BGP SBD > Open reel Ampex videotape or to conventional RtR (unclear which equipment was used) Transfer #1: (c. 1988) re-anneal master tapes (if needed) > D (probably a Sonic Solutions ADC @ 24/48) > PCM tape Remaster #1: (c. 1988) PCM > hiss & artifact removal > "sonic solutions process" > DAT (or other digital medium > DAT) Transfer #2: (1990) MDAT > Nakamichi deck> XLII-S/90 > MC Transfer #3: (1990) MC > Nakamichi deck (playback) > Nakamichi deck (record) > XLII-S/90 > C(1) Transfer #4: (2005) C(1) > Aiwa AD-F850 > THC Cables > Edirol U-A5 > USB > Wavelab 5.01a @ 24/96 > WAV Final Mastering: WAV > Wavelab 5.0a (X-noise to reduce hiss; 192 KhZ resampler > 44.1k; L3 Multimaximizer to increase gain and dither to 16 bits) > FLAC. The recording runs just shy of 90 minutes. If splitting onto two discs, the suggested split is after track 8. There are a half-dozen small discontinuities in the recording, including abrupt transitions between songs and small gaps, some with brief silences and others without. There was a tape flip in Killing Me Softly at about 4:15. - -----Like I said, I will take the first 5 folks who respond to me OFFLIST, with the subject heading "Play It Forward"...Please indicate to me your name, addy, and preference of source; either FLAC or Audio disks. There is no obligation to pass this music along, you may simply enjoy it with no strings; but if you are able to pass it along to another in the spirit in which it was created and then here offered again, that would be much appreciated and a fitting tribute to Brother James.and the music itself.:-) - --Well, there MUST really be a JAM in Heaven today. "Can I get a witness.HA!!" Amen and Namaste Y'all.KEEP THE FUNK ALIVE!! Hope you all are Enjoying your day, and I Wish you and all your families Much Health, Happiness, Peace, Prosperity and Love in this New Year to come and Beyond. Be Well.
