This is a Joni "Jean Autry" concert 1995-01-26 for press and invited guests, a radio recording, the quality is fantastic, her guitar is miked up perfectly, and is the balance between her voice and Guitar, she tells funny wonderfull stories as usual, and she starts with Refuge of the Roads, I wonder how many of her concerts start with this song? she sings Hejira, Night Ride home, Song for Sharon, Moon at the Window, and quite a few more, I love her singing and playing on her own, and this set for me is as good as it gets, the quality is amazing her guitar sounds fantastic As I have said before after finding the HOTSL demo tapes and how good they are, I wonder what other gems are in peoples possession. There is another New recording on this web address :- http://tela.sugarmegs.org/_asxtela/_new_additions.html Joni Mitchell 1995- 05 - 11 asx file you can only listen to this song its a short interview and 3 solo songs good Quality ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 13 Dec 2006 07:00:55 -0500 (EST) From: Catherine McKay Subject: Joni mention in Carole Pope bio I was doing a "whatever happened to" search on Carole Pope, formerly of the Canadian band Rough Trade and so on. I came across a Nov 2003 article from Eye Weekly, dealing with the launch of her biography "Anti Diva". Seeing that Carole used to hang around Yorkville back in those days, I wondered if she had ever encountered Joni. The article does mention Carole hanging out with Jimi Hendrix and Marshall McLuhan, but no Joni, until... at the end of the article are a few excerpts from her book, including this bitchy, but funny, comment on the Canadian star scene: - -------- CANADA'S LIVE AID "The Canadian music business records 'Tears Are Not Enough' (or 'Ten Beers Are Not Enough'). During breaks, every chick singer hovers around Joni Mitchell, happy to be breathing the same air as her, except Jane Siberry, who starts talking about cows. Joni's eyes glaze over in incomprehension. I smoke a stogie with Anne Murray, and we try to guess the names of some singers we're working with. That about sums up the Canadian star system." http://www.eye.net/eye/issue/issue_11.23.00/music/pope.html Catherine Toronto - ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tired of spam? I have introduced the idea of an exhibition to the folks who decide such things (they are very interested but want to see more examples) - it would be Joni's art relating to landscapes, open spaces, etc - (we've exhibited Ansel Adams, Bob Kuhn, Georgia O'Keeffe for instance- that caliber of art). I have shown them my Mendel Gallery book which has (a very few) of those kinds of pieces but I am sure she has many more. The exhibition committee who decides such things as far as exhibitions go, has asked me if there is anywhere online where they can view more of her more landscape paintings. I realize the timing in regard to Green Flag Song may not be the best but this can be something in the future. If anyone has any clues as to how I can show these folks more of her art related to landscapes, please let me know via this list or by private email- kate@katebennett.com- be sure to put the above subject line in the message so I don't delete if I don't recognize the sender.
