The percussive style of playing the guitar, it's one of the things that really draws me in and captivates me. What I love about Joni the most are her beautiful chords and chord-changes and her percussive style of playing the guitar. I'm performing 3 of them at the fest: The Dawntreader, Last Chance Lost, and The Wolf That Lives In Lindsay. They are so much fun to play, LTL is my favorite. Some other percussive Joni songs I love are: Coyote, Don Juan's Reckless Daughter, Cherokee Louise, Passion Play, The Only Joy in Town, Turbulent Indigo, Taming the Tiger,...... I could go on and on. ALSO: If you dig percussive acoustic guitar, you have got to check out EVERYTHING that Michael Hedges has done. Start with Aerial Boudaries. About 95% of all PCs have Acrobat Reader installed, which lets you read PDFs, but you need separate software to create PDF files. lots of love, Anne ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 19 Oct 2006 17:30:54 +0000 From: "Sherelle Smith" Subject: RE: Real or fake? I'm glad you were able to do that Richard! I think that's exactly what we needed. Good job!!! Bob Didn't DS record CaS for the Joni tribute CD that was in production years ago and was then shelved (before the latest tribute CD got underway, apparently in production now)? Just look at us trying to understand if it's an original Joni or a fake.:) Sure it's a fake and not a very good one as Kakki said, but you know that while we're busy debating that, someone who's never heard of Joni is looking at this silly painting on ebay and thinking "Well, i don't know who Joni Mitchell is but i think it's a very nice painting", and then buys it and hangs it on the wall and enjoys it everyday not because it's a Joni or a non-Joni but because he likes it. Isn't that what true love for art is all about? Loving something simply for what it is and not for the name behind it? No wonder that art is treated like merchandise these days, and worst than that, the artists themselves. And it's true everywhere you look and everywhere you go. Do you buy your clothes for their trends, lables and tags or simply because you like them? Cause if you don't, my dear clown, then you won't wear then for very long before you go and look for something better to buy. Do you have friends that like you for your status and class or do you have real friends ? Did you marry someone because they were trendy, best labled and tagged as oo-la-la or because you liked their kindness? Cause if you didn't then your lawyer is already waiting. Do you love yourself because you're trendy and labled as a success and you're tagged as Mr. this and Mrs. that or because there's no one in the whole world like you? And back to Joni - if you're one of the many here who never heard or knew anything about her when you heard her music for the first time and still fell for her, then you know what i'm talking about. Loving something or someone for what it is, even if it's a fake, is true, and loving something or someone for it's worth, even if it's an original, is a fake. And although we live in a world where we choose things for their tags and lables, including dogs, cats, horses and humans, it's still the things we simply love without even knowing why that we always keep with us and treasure the most.
