Those wishing to use the link need only cut and paste the two parts together. And thanks, David. The results are subtle, but a vast improvement to these ears. Your e-mail program probably doesn't like long "words." What is an AIFF file? Is that a lossless file in Mac by any chance? I'm not sure if those work for non-Mac users, but I could be mistaken. Maybe it's some other format I'm thinking of. I wonder if there's any chance of torrenting this stuff. I've got software that will convert from one format to another, so I could convert to FLAC if that's more helpful to some. However, there would need to be enough interest, and a place to torrent this. Dimeadozen wouldn't allow it, since it's officially released material, even if it is remastered. (Anyway, you'd need to be a member and I'm not sure if they're allowing any more on right now - it's not a snobby thing, it's just that they've got limited resources and can only handle so many.) Les, if you're listening, are we able to torrent on jonimitchell.com these days? There's always the DC++ hub if that's still around, for one-at-a-time downloading. I haven't been on it for ages and am terrified that it would take weeks to re-index my stuff. - --- Dave Blackburn wrote: > I looked in my digest this morning and the link I > sent yesterday > looks like it got truncated. They are uncompressed (but not the same as Apple Lossless). Mp3s are data compressed, and sound awful unless you encode at the highest bit rate. Mp4s aka AAC files sound way better and are the default iTunes Music Store download format. AACs are about 1/10th the size of AIFF files, hence they are easier to up/download. Windows has a bunch of proprietary formats too but the three above are pretty standard now.
