The bombing of Haifa made my jaw drop. Being the birthplace of my ex made me feel a little closer to home. Now I have a friend in the path of this destruction. Nuri, stay safe. The big concern here is the Australian government trying to get the hundreds of Australians out of both Lebanon and Israel. Last I heard, they were planning to send a war ship to evacuate a large number of Australians from Beirut to Cyprus. There is a childrens singing group in Beirut who are very scared. My thoughts are with you all in both countries. Buffy's voice is like fingernails on the blackboard to me. In some of Joni's earliest recordings (pre-STAS) I hear a lot of Buffy affectation. And it was a wonderful time even tho they almost killed me with the workload. I will report later. I am on my way to work. I have only received around 6 requests for the book which is not enough to place an order. So I will give it a couple more days to see if anyone else surfaces. I also have not heard back another report from Simon nor have I heard from Joel. Hope everyone had a lovely weekend. My favorite has to be Jason Falkner's version, but then again I probably wouldn't enjoy his propelled rendition if I didn't have the pop-balladish Judy Collins version as a template. I love Davy Graham's psychedelic take, Dianne Reeves' recording is breathtaking, Orlando's obscure version blew me away too, just pure emotive voice & harp, and he builds the emotion to a real peak. I do try to find something to like about all of them, in some cases it's just the delicious awfulness of them. Congrats to Ric Robinson in the UK who is the lucky recipient. Ric, just let me know where to send it and it's on the way. And for those who didn't win, let me say again that this CD is fantastic - I played it in my car all day yesterday and while I like the simplicity of the first BYT CD, this one is just so much fuller and offers so much more. CDBaby has them in stock, so if you have some extra jack: http://cdbaby.com/cd/bigyellowtaxi3 And if you have it already and are digging it, go post a review - I know that Henning would appreciate it.
