Great CD "Bringing on the > Weather" Cassy, that's a good song. Interesting how the lyrics, while being very original, remind me of a lot of lyrics of other songs, mostly Joni's. I wonder if they're fans of hers? Most of the Joni lyrics it brings to my mind ar from the "Hejira" album. > "Bringin on the weather > He carves a wake > Through the dark belly of the night > With the thunderhead column > Following behind him Joni: A thunderhead of judgment was Gathering in my gaze > For the forced march into Morningside Joni: When morning comes to Morningtown (OK, that's a bit of a reach, but it comes to my mind anyway.) > Deep in Texas > Summer's hotter > Than she can recall > And she's been dried up lately > From the cryin > Through the alcohol Joni: We got high on travel And we got drunk on alcohol > There's the drone of the diesel below Joni: The drone of flying engines Is a song so wild and blue It scrambles time and seasons if it gets thru to you > The whiteness of the silence from his radio Joni: You turn me on, I'm a radio (ha ha) > Oh, he's a man behind the wheel > Pushin on, she's callin > Bringin on the weather John Martyn: Bless the weather that brought you to me Curse the storm that takes you away Catherine Toronto - ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tired of spam? The two you don't have are "Shadows and Light" (late 70s) and "Refuge of the Roads" (early 80s). I guess I'd say both are highly recommended if you like those eras. I will also think of you as I am sticking the rotissere skewer up the 4 cornish hens behinds before I out them on to the grill (new bbq grille yay!) and start basting them this evening. Love ya. I am on a mission to listen to them all in order. While I am forced by others to listen to other cd's no one ever asks for Joni so it's cool. It's amazing to listen to her voice develop as well as her songwriting and the way other musicians adapt to her and get her. I am so ready for FTR and C&S and beyond. Just had a great meal with the fam. Mikey got back from soccer regionals in Arkansas and his team was apparently NOT what the baseball team did over several years cause he came back with his tail between his legs. Too bad I feel so bad for him. He really loves soccer and I think he will go further with it than baseball. Anyways, HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY to ALL! We are headed to the lake tomorrow for some water activities followed by more BBQ with friends.
